Suggestions to make the game more challenging

I’ve never played a commercially-released game where ammo conservation was anything I had to regularly think about other than ‘don’t shoot at the walls constantly out of boredom’.

I have however played custom maps that have monsters and give the player weapons, but at some point in time seem to forget that the player needs ammo to use them.

thats what i do when a game gets boring :stuck_out_tongue:

Try playing a game on a mode harder than Easy sometime, you’ll see a lot of games include ammo conservation

Alan Wake on Nightmare has the most intense ammo conservation ever. Running completely out of ammo on the first boss? Bad mojo.

I always play games on either the normal or hard difficulty. I used to conserve items and ammo like crazy, on the grounds of ‘you never know’, but I’ve learned that’s almost entirely self-imposed baloney.

Have you considered the possibility that you just suck?

Bologna.

I’m confused: If you exceed maximum allowable entity data, how come the game actually can be played? Isn’t maximum a limit?

Raminator conquered math and therefore defies normal human logic and imposed his own.

I assume it’s because having npcs active at the same time would cause errors, but since many locations are closed off from one another, triggers are used to spawn npcs in areas the player can get to & remove npcs the player can’t back-track to.

or something to that effect. :3

Put the game on Onlive. Nobody will be able to play it because of the shitty lag.

And @Dias, I think that makes sense. But would that mean if a player were to run through the entire level on godmode and not kill a single enemy the game would crash?

The engine has a max entity limit which is different than hammer’s recommended max limit.
The one in hammer is designed to limit mappers so they wont exceed valve’s recommended budget…obviously BM is more demanding.

Hated it when Alien Swarm did it. Realism isn’t always ‘fun’, thus the invention of videogames themselves.

Isn’t the Hammer limit something like twice the built-in Engine limit?

EDIT: Never mind, the limit is for VBSP.

Bah, I knew I was going to to be corrected somehow when my answer seemed needlessly complex. :retard:

I hereby once again submit my request for realistic colt reloading !

  1. Gordon tilts out the drum.
  2. He covers the full chambers, e.g. the amount of chambers not depleted with his palm or thumb.
  3. He empties the bullet casings that were left uncovered by using gravitational force.
  4. He closes the drum.

I’m pretty sure they do that in Shadow of Chernobyl.

But this is Black Mesa. So no.

Oh, don’t get me started… just put 10 times MORE AntLions in the game…hell, put them everywhere… those annoying bastards… I hate them with a passion… ugly as sin, and twice as annoying… aaaaaagggghhh! OK, I’m fine, no problem, just take deep breaths… stupid AntLions…

I liked Vista, I had no problems with it…except the wireless lag spike, THAT WAS IT…and I fixed that with wififix.exe when I had vista

Yes, put ten times more of an enemy that is not even in the game to begin with.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
