I also think that some more elaboration on Black Ops’ presence would benefit the game, but I guess the devs want to stick to the original game as much as possible, so that’s probably not going to happen.
The Harriers were meant to completely replace the F-16 so I doubt they’ll bother reimplementing them. As for the choppers, the Black ops presence at his point in HL story was still very small, it’s not until opposing force that they beome more evident.
On a different note, whenever Ospreys fly by during the game, I find it really anoying to see their propellers facing up and not to the side. I’m no expert but I don’t think thats how it’s supposed to be.
I’m pretty sure that in helicopter mode, they’re fully capable of just acting like a helicopter.
Looked through some videos and you’re right, I guess I just thought that they moved too fast to be in hellicopter mode, but they do IRL. Modern millitary is truly amazing.
They should change the rare specimen achievement by rather bringing the Pizza from QE ethics instead of the hat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yymoe5dFH7s 5:05 onwards
Well I think it’s not that they move too fast to be in a helicopter mode, but that at those speeds, I feel like they’d be moving a little too slow to be in airplane mode.
Before I forget, imo the nuclear storage facility, that tripmine-trap house needs a minor revamp I think. I just find it too easy, it always was, even for the first playthrough. Plus We can bypass most of the room by going to the right… and you know it’s just one of the coolest place in the whole game -with Joel’s awesome music track- no need to (let us) rush there.
Then add half zombies to the area?
Your joking about that being too easy? I found that really difficult as has been brought up about the jumping height if it had of felt the same as HL2 then I might not have struggled with it so much. But let’s just say I’m probably no where near as good a player as you.
I actually agree that it’s really easy once you know a path, but that goes for pretty much everything.
If jump height was your issue, then don’t worry, that’s being fixed.
Whoat?!
Jump height is being modified? Interesting! Even if I had no problem with that.
Ronster:
I played through Half-Life literally at least a dozen times, I can even do it just in my mind (mesa nerd?). Maybe this is why I found that part easy, even if too die there ocasionally. Still, generally I say we should be forced to check out the entire room before we could proceed. Either way, it’s up to the dev team.
Assuming what was said in this interview (there’s 3 parts, not sure which part is was said in, though) still holds true, yeah, it’ll be changed. And really, BM’s gotten so many complaints about it (apparently their audience extends way beyond original HL1/old FPS fans) that it’d be silly not to do it, esp. since it’s such an easy fix.
I wanted to say that I actually don’t have an issue with it so much now, but initially it was jarring compared to HL2.
I actually modified the jump height after I kept blowing myself up when I reached this section. That was the first change I made to Black Mesa and honestly I kept going with it until this point but I noticed others complaining and it made it feel like an actual error when it’s actually nothing wrong with it. It’s just different but if they do change it then it should only be subtle.
The area itself has nothing wrong with it, if anything for people who are extremely familiar with the original perhaps it should be mixed up a little bit, to give them more a challenge where as if you can’t remember that “route” then it matters neither way.
In terms of physiology and realism the average human should be able to crouch Junp onto a car bonnet that’s probably a reasonable bench mark for jump height so a few units over a average car bonnet height.
SO, am I the only person that didn’t have problems with the jumping?
I didn’t really have any problems with it either, but it’s nice that the Black devs are modifying it a bit.
Crouch-jumping comes so naturally I rarely even notice.
Because of Black Mesa, I always crouch jump in every FPS, now.
My pinky gets tired out…
I do that because of jump puzzles in the co-op maps on both hl2 and mods.
You know I think the problem with the jump is the walk jump and the actual momentum you can travel opposed to the sprint crouch jump which is difficult to pull off. if they made the walk jump travel the same or nearly the same distance as the sprint jump then that would fix it.
do you guys play with always run on? Because I play with walk and the sprint button enabled.
I find it easy to sprint-crouch-jump. Instead of taking my pinky off sprint to hit crouch I just lower the middle-section of said pinky to hit ctrl. Works fine for me.
Though I guess I do have ridiculously tiny fingers, so that may be at play there.
It does.
