Here’s a deathmatch suggestion…
I am hoping that we get a broader weapon selection in deathmatch because that is a factor in making this mode more fun.
So how about a flare gun to burn our nemesis or enemies with?
Yeah I know it’s not in the original but does that really matter?
So you’re saying 14 weapons isn’t a broad enough arsenal?
I think more weapons in deathmatch that are not available in single player, It makes for more strategy and gives a multi-player game a bit more depth.
Aside from players or objectives and maps the weapons are also one of the variants and they are often pre-defined and not added to.
so not so many that it’s over complicated but more than 14 I think would benefit the game in the long run.
I would like to see the flares available, personally. It would make for fun stealth attacks
this is something I noticed in the sound scripts and it would make for better continuity.
Zombies have a claw strike sound vortigaunts have no claw strike sound but have a claw attack.
so can we give vortigaunts a claw strike sound?
Question for a dev.
Is there a string or sound script related to when Gordon get’s melee hit by an assassin or alien grunt?
I would like to add a sound for when gordon gets hit but cannot seem to find a instance for it…
Basically what is the melee hit camera shake called and when It happens I want to play a sound here… And can I do it?
This. Hell, I want to see more flares in the single player portion. They don’t get enough love I think.
I luvz flammable gas… used once or twice at most.
improove voice acting …I know, the people you used for voice acting, were ordinary people…but…some more “life” to the lines …
f.e. the scene in Blast pit with the tentacle breaking through the glass and taking the scientist away …imo, the same scene in the 2009 trailer was better voice-acted (sorry for my english)
The “They’re waiting for you Gordon, in the test chamber!” line from AM should also be rerecorded…
I played half life again and thought about the lack of grenadiers again in BM. I thought, since the speed of the grenade launcher would probably be almost impossible to evade, what if grenadiers were to be implemented again as time based enemy? The way i see is that the grenadiers would scream sth like “40mm incoming!” while loading their grenade into their mp5 and if he is not taken down during that time, he would shoot the grenade to the player. Aside from that, they should have a different look from the normal soldier, like having extra armour or maybe just wearing a patch in their arm or sth, maybe even come back again as the black beret soldier or the balaclava soldier.
yeah, the hecu should be using the 40mm grenade launcher. Reason, if no one is going to use it why the hell would they bring it (seems a funding nightmare for some one to spend the extra cash equipping the soldiers with grenade launchers and ammo for them but telling them not to use them).
as for the speed of them making things unbalanced, what Joe said have them announce that they are firing the grande launcher with a line or a few,
example
firing a forty
loading a frag
firing a frag
this warning would give the player time to take cover or kill the soldier.
edit:
the warning could also be removed on high difficulties with the player only warning of the event being the soldier visibly loading a 40mm into the launcher
:end edit
as for making them look different, just give the grenadiers a different helmet like the medics have, the best way would be to give the a blast shield on the helmet, this would show that they use explosives.
something else I personally would like to see in black mesa, near the scenting, who kills a headcrab with a monitor, in the original half life there was a vent that had fallen down that vent had a head crap in it that ever so rarely would break the vent and attack the player. This showed 2 things, one that the alien wild life was being teleported in anywhere that there was room for it, and two that head crabs are in vents.
Or you could just slow down grenades to HL2 levels. Much simpler.
But BM’s grenades feel soooo much better!
Even hl2’s speed is quite fast compared to hl1’s, I doubt it would make much of a difference to dodge.
You could just make the AI grenades go slower. The AI RPG already moves at 50% the speed of the player version.
Anyway if they don’t do it, I just like to pretend the HECU either aren’t using them yet (WGH) or already used all their grenades in battle (ST).
I think tear gas nade launchers under the smg would be an interesting weapon for Marines to use.
I know it is not in the original half life but smoking the player out would be an interesting tactic for them to employ and the smoke causes the player pain and coughing.
But then it does not help the fact that when the player picks up the weapon off a grunt it would fire explosive nades only
But with that said perhaps the HECU could have this ammo type as a substitute they have to be wearing gas masks for a reason.
What I’d like to see is maybe some higher-res textures for the corkboards/whiteboards.
