Stuttering and whatnot

Title. Black mesa is stuttering and choppy for me. Pretty much every time I turn my camera, I stutter badly or not so badly. I’ve tried the affinity fix which is stickied here with no effect. Specs below!

AMD Athlon II x4 640 3Ghz
Radeon 7850 2GB
HyperX 8gb 1600Mhz

Hint: showing what does the +showbudget panel looks like and elaborating a bit more on the game quality settings and CCC settings would help us to provide you with a give advice on how to deal with your problem.

As requested:

did you try this?

Texture budget panel is not the panel devs need to get the things sorted out.
Here is a link on a post where I describe how to troubleshoot FPS drops:

I got a bunch of looping sound hitches in the elevator to Lambda Complex that almost crashed the game the first time I went through it. I tried it with the big showbudget panel and everything seemed fine. I guess the engine is just being pushed really hard, so if you have problems reload a prior save and see if things smooth out more.

Well, looking at the budget panel screenshot you had posted it’s either vsync kicking in and clamping FPS down to 30 or a GPU fillrate shortage. Concerning “reload and try again” advice: yeah, it could work sometimes (when playing non-stop for a relatively long time running through demanding areas) but most of the times it won’t help :-(. Dlight-related FPS drops or fillrate shortage won’t be healed by the game engine restart.
