Strange flashlight effect

It feels like BMS is pushing Source to its limits. In many places I had a lot of shadow glitches on the flashlight, I guess it has to be expected from the “old” 2007 Source branch having to render so many details. I don’t know how much dynamic lights they use, flashlight being one more.

This is problem that occurs when there is another env_projectedtexture activated in the map. env_projectedtexture is only rendered with shadow detail on “High”. This problem can be fixed by putting your shadow detail on medium, but this will disable dynamic shadows being cast by your flashlight. Even with shadow detail on Medium the shadows in this game still look very sharp and realistic.
