SteamOS

It’s still based on OpenGL. I wouldn’t mind more competition between the two, what with Microsoft doing their shit again with forcing people to get the new Windows to use DX11.1. The only relatively large company that uses OpenGL in any large degree is id and they aren’t so relevant anymore.

Run a PC with two OS’s (one on the main drive; the second on a virtual PC). Problem solved.

Two partitions and native boot works the best. At this point the only thing openGL lacks is industry support and valve is doing their best to change it. On my old 2007 macbook pro, I ran HL2 under osx 10.6 and windblows XP. DX9 ran better than open GL. on the same game, same computer, different OS. Now on my new MBP under 10.7 and win7 I cannot tell the difference between the two

I literally realized that I had something like this just a few minutes ago. Hell, my external drive can hold more space than the one I normally use!

And on that note, I am now extremely excited for steamOS. I’m sure it will put so much more resources toward playing these video games than Windows 7 does (which I imagine will help me out a ton).

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
