Steam sales "cheapen intellectual property" says EA Origin boss

The only reason I even got it was becasue of Battlefield 3 and that game has been a bit of a dissapointment as of late. Heck I have not even bought Mass Effect 3 yet due to it’s relation to Origin (and that I sort of stopped my “perfect playthrough attempt” with ME1 and ME2 a while back).

So I think I actualy will now that EA practicaly outright lied.

Origin was the only reason, that I didn’t play Battlefield and I’m not going to do so until BF3 on steam…

I’m not installing some spyware, just so I can play a game!

Agreed. Personally, I quite enjoy BF3. It’s a shame that Origin is a requirement. In my case, it adds absolutely no value. When I start up BF3, it logs into Origin and I don’t even see the main window. I play BF3. And then I exit Origin when I’m done. There’s no point really, it doesn’t help with multiplayer, chat, or anything. I’ll be the first to ditch it if there is any way to play BF3 without it.

Steam, on the other hand, is usually the first program I start when I boot up the computer, and often occupies it’s own monitor!

Origin is just a BF3 launcher to me.

I’m just going to sit back and patently play the waiting game while I Wait for EA to Fold and admit defeat.

They won’t, they have enough muscle to make it in the digital distribution business without being smart about it.

Then I guess I’ll be waiting for a long time.

I think we can be fairly certain that BF3, or any future BF games for that matter, will NEVER be coming to Steam as long as EA is standing on its own two fat feet.

What would be great is if EA collapsed and Valve hired the DICE guys to work as a secondary dev team and they combined Source and Frostbite to create the greatest game engine in existence.

That would be fan-fucking-tastic.

Ea sux imo, really hate the company.
Also hate stuff that need that stupid Windows live log-in thingy that you need to log-in to before you can play a game -.-

I think that even if Valve wouldn’t hire DICE, DICE would be more then happy about selling their products through Steam because that is the would be the only way to survive out there.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
