Steam Account Security - Top ways to stay safe

Ahh… I remember the first time I got hijacked… or at least I thought I was.
I couldn’t get into my account one night, but I’m guessing I just kept typing my password wrong and eventually began spamming myself with password recoveries that didn’t come until an hour later, I FINALLY got my account to work after the day was over.

cool story bro

I said phishing…

I just quit playing Ep2 and about fifteen minutes later (STEAM was still running) I get a message from STEAM saying that my account credentials have expired and I should retype my password. Is this something new because I must’ve let STEAM run after quitting a game for much longer without getting this message.

And before you ask, no I did not give my account details to anyone and my account is verified. I restarted STEAM and logged in and I can still access my games, so no problems there.

I just found it rather odd since I’ve never gotten this message before. And I got it from the STEAM programme itself, it wasn’t an email or something.

Anyone know more about this?

I’ve gotten it a few times before. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

That’s what I thought, but since this never happened before I kinda freaked out. Anyone else get this message?

Reminds me of the time me and rabid were arguing with someone it went like this

That was a good night.

EDIT: I’ve had it a few times grievous and it’s nothing to worry about. I think it’s something to do with packet loss between the client and steam. Either way don’t worry about it.

That would explain why I don’t always get it, it just happens once in a while (once to be exact).

I only get the message with SEVERE packet loss(usually about 67% and higher) which I get courtesy of my ISP.

Holy crap. Was I right with the packet loss thing? That was just a humongous guess! Yet somehow logical.

but i never did any kind of cheating or something,
i dont know what made them deactivate my account…
this is really disappointing -.-

I’m kinda afraid I pissed him off and I’m gonna get hacked now. :FFFUUU:

I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
oh if you get an email that says that the steam servers have been hacked don’t believe it. I got suckered into a week without a steam account b/c i believed that load of BS

tear :’(

lol, thats fine. I was mostly posting the information because of how easy it was to find it. It was about 4% hacking, 6% view source, 80% google searches, and 10% whois queries.

Whoops, sorry I meant to disable those links, but I see Catz is on the ball.

Wow Id better think twice :stuck_out_tongue: Good Thread  Alot Of ppl have been doing this and accepting many GIFT fraud :frowning:

I’ve been getting the same message as Lord Grievous every month.

Hey there, no worries buddy. I just wanna make sure everything is on the up and up and that we don’t encourage things that could get messy.

I guess you could say this particular thread is about emulating some of the basic steam rules? One of which is to minimize the advertizment of bad links, as well as minimize the need to hunt someone down and “make them pay!! GARG BAHHH! GRRRRrr1~~~@!!!”

All is good tho. You have honorable intentions. I am simply trying to keep it all safe for all the children in the home. :luv4you:

don’t forget the outlet covers :3
