source sdk free means all can play black mesa?

i just surfed around the web and found this on moddb

source: moddb

so does this mean that everyone can play black mesa?

DENIED

Are they planning to change the fact that the free version of TF2 counts as a fully fledged source game? Or have they already changed that and I’m just slow :frowning:

IDK. Do you get the Source SDK when you download it in a free version?

I dont see how u can play it without

No you can’t. End of story. If you don’t have a source game, you need to get all of them and suck their dicks.

if the source sdk becomes free i guess anyone will be able to play free source mods…

Won’t Black Mesa use a lot of HL2 resources though?

just stuff that’s in the sdk.

IIRC, someone finding that you could, unintentionally on Valve’s behalf, download the SDK while only having F2P TF2 and then talking to Robin Walker about it, was what made them decide ‘Ok, why not make it free full stop?’

It used to, but they shifted it to use entirely custom content.

How can you not own a source game? well, you can pick up half-life 2 pretty cheap now anyways

Question: What about to use cracked steam with orange box hl gcfs + sdks ? will it work ?

haha ppl wont be able to play with bms on mac (or any mod), becouse sdk is not suported on mac…

Theres a difference between Source SDK and SDK Base… And i’m pretty sure it isn’t supported on Macs, but i’m not sure.

Raminator

Source SDK Base 2007 being in subscription zero means it’s free for everyone.

so since its free now, i gues we can kiss our wanted engine 2009 source update goodbye and no portal mods

  1. It’s not there yet.
  2. There is no proof that you can play all mods for 100%.

You’ll be able to play any mod based on the OB SDK content.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
