Absolutely agree!
The new screenshots brought a tear to my eye.
YES!!!

chuckles to myself about how my friends never believed it would ever come out
All these years, I never gave up hope.
I’m sorry, but what are you talking about? It’s not like we haven’t seen numinous images prior to his batch. Also, even if we as a community have never seen any media, one could expect it to look very similar to the orange box (ep2).
I for one think this looks great, and even exceeded the quality and detail that episode 2 delivered. But I don’t need to say that, because we’ve all seen that for years now.
Cinematic Mode delivers better graphics (ignoring some bad models)
Ha. I’m sorry, but the Cinematic mod looks like utter shit now and always has.
Actually, I’m not sorry.
Ugh, yeah - they took a great idea and… went way, way too far with it.
I quite like CM11 at least compared to CM10LE
It is finally starting to go in the direction of increasing map poly count instead of texture res/model poly count.

Epic work guys. You have my indefinite respect and full support in your future endeavors.
especially love the teleporter puzzle shot :freeman:
Dotard is a fucking idiot. Other than that, the screenshots looked amazing. The questionable ethics lobby, teleporter core room, and the action shot of taking down the Apache with the rpg were really good. i love that beefy rpg model too. I can’t wait picking it up for the first time in surface tension along the steep cliff sides.
All of the pics looked great. i could look at new media all day long.

It’s time for a new challenge. FOR MEDIA!
Dotard
On topic: This really makes me wonder what else they are planning to show us in the coming days and weeks ahead for new media.
It’s kinda making me feel like playing HL1 again just to get prepped for release
Well let’s pretend for a second that they haven’t been showing screenshots for the past bajillion years and you should very well understand how the game looks by now. Let’s pretend they’ve kept us completely in the dark.
Why would you expect it to look better? This isn’t a AAA game with a several million dollar budget, created by professional developers like Rockstar or Crytek. This is a game made during their free time out of their own homes.
You see this type of mentality a lot and it baffles me. I mean, people don’t expect independent low budget directors to have Michael Bay level production values and special effects. Why the double standard with video games?
Not to mention that they can only work within the constraints of the engine, seeing as they don’t have access to the renderer’s source code, so they can’t really improve on the graphics that much beyond higher quality assets.
These days so many people whine about anything. Why can’t we just enjoy games for what they are, instead of complaining about what they aren’t?
Duke Nukem Forever and the new Devil May Cry are classic examples. If you don’t like it, shut up and play something else. HL was an awesome game, and BMS is a huge improvement. It is everything a remake should be and so much more, literally and figuratively. Technically it is far superior, but what makes it even more special is that it’s been a labour of love for true fans with some serious skills with the Source engine. The Black Mesa Source Developers represent the pinnacle of the gaming community.
salutes
Did you want to jump in on the flaming so bad that you took my post and reworded it, or did you just not see what I said? Either way, that’s pretty much exactly what I wrote, with different wording.
Back on topic, it’s nice to see some new media! That is all.
Oh oops, yeah I didn’t see your post. I just wanted to make the point that you can’t expect BMS to look like AAA 2012 games from professionals.
Just ban dotard and you all wouldn’t have to lecture and waste your effort on an 8 year old.
We, the fans of the actual series, know how the engine works and how awesome the BM devs are at what they do.
“Said something retarded … it gets a lot of attention.”
Seriously now, the graphics looks amazing … but what always killed me about Source Engine (or at least most games using it) is that character models do not fit well with the environments, but that’s just me.
I’m not a graphics whore, lol. I still play ps1 games cause they are fun and memorable.
But HL1 remake happens only once in a lifetime so expectation are high of course … this is not about me, but I can see today’s games complaining how shit it looks and why it took 7 years or how long :freeman:
Maybe he was expecting Valve quality? :retard:
Many of the older screenshots look better for my taste, so I understand his disappointment.
Too bad they cannot afford to make a gameplay video…
Dotard, please post the new media screenshot that you thought had “bad graphics.”
I think it’s already over Valve quality (don’t kill me) that’s not the problem … HL1 looks like a shit today, but every part of the game is shit … In BMS some things are less detailed and some more.
-bad muzzleflash effect
-reused Vortiguant model from HL2EP2
-lower poly Alien Grunt than expected
And not bad graphics, just kinda out of place with the rest.
^okay i can respect that. I also agree that the voriguant model’s shackles did distract me and hope they retexture those things since they use combine textures.
The alien grunt was perfectly fine and sexy.
The muzzle flash looks fine and you won’t even notice it in game.
