Social media campaign starts on Facebook

Personally, I think the timing of it in relation to my post is rather funny. Wait… do I have egg on my face. :s hrug: No matter. Omelet anyone?

Too bad they can’t take any credit for the leaked video… Seeing as it’s an older build(possibly late 2009?), unless this was the only area with no visible bugs, I assume the last 3 years were spent bringing the rest of the mod to about this level of quality, not adding more things on top of finished areas…

I hope that’s not the final voice acting. It’s too cheesy, unless the team is going for more of a B-movie quality than Valve did. Then it’s just :expressionless:

The rest of it was nice, but dat VA.

What? Half-Life 2 certainly goes for the realistic approach, but the voice acting in HL1 was downright cheesy. They have downplayed it in this, I think. Just take a look at the original scientist voices. It was hilarious. And the soldiers were like evil incarnate or something.

Still, I’d rather they went for a more realistic approach, HL2-style. A middle-ground is good too, though.

I think they wanted to preserve the “HL1” feeling.

Looks like the VA is final which is a shame. Easily fixed though if someone can clean up and remaster the original VA. If not, at least i can kill those two soldiers before they begin their weird-ass-pantomime.

No problem over all with the voice acting. It seems handled well enough within the constraints of making it resonate with the original dialog. I imagine it’s like reading / writing dialog within a box. Very constrained.

After the last video that featured voice acting (power up and then AM with the microwave casserole), I honestly expected worse.

Good job guys and I vote for no remastering/re-recording.

I don’t want to spoil even more of the game but I’m so tempted…

this

The voice acting sounded like a parody of Duke Nukem (not in a bad way)… was impressed with the geostationary orbit of the satellites, I notice these subtle details heh

I was okay with the VA,

That grunt sounded a lot like Killbane, it’s that spark of comedy to break the tension that’s nice.

I was under the impression that people complained about the delay in anything else being released after the screenshots, rather than there being just screenshots in the initial media release.

Do the new plans involve media releases to the public or is the social media campaign officially canceled?

Also, can you tell us why your plans have changed?

Anyone care to venture a guess as to what the new twitter post means?

Or perhaps a dev could offer some more clues…?

I love the gun sounds.

And I thought you were gonna be vague about it. Shame on me :3

Glad it’s cleared up as just a miscommunication.
Now, since the plans have changed recently, does the soundtrack release 2 weeks before mod release still stand?

This wasn’t meant to be an exclusive “or”, but a conjunctive one. :3

So do you mean be that, that there’s going to be further media releases and the social media campaign is discontinued?

I perceive it as Facebook campaign canceled, more media are probably coming, just not via that channel. And I approve :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw this 20 minutes ago on this website of a big german games magazine:

https://www.gamestar.de/
https://www.gamestar.de/spiele/half-life-/news/black_mesa,36272,3003670.html

I saw these videos the first time, the first is so beautiful… i m almost crying right now, seriously… i m so in love with half life and blackmesa…

Its more than perfect (besides the voice acting of the grunts maybe…)

So now we have our media campaign :.)

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
