So Valve is actually working on a DOTA game

interesting…

DotA is one of those games I DON’T want remade into HD.

I couldn’t agree more. The whole point of releasing games in episodes is to reduce the time in between each release. Do they not know that episodic releases are supposed to be faster than full game releases? And now they get involved with another project. Is this company trying to grow faster? Or are they just trying to piss off their fan base?

Oh I see you didn’t get it, that Valve realized themselves that releasing it in shorter games (Yes, I say shorter games, not episodes, because Valve never announced somewhere that they were making episodes like the Monkey Island Episodes) isn’t that good.

Moreover, different teams work on AS and the Dota game, Valve has enough employees to work on so many projects.

Okay, I stand corrected. But I’m still peeved that Valve gets off on pushing release dates (or lack thereof). Portal 2 got moved to 2011, which made be very angry, and they have still remained silent on HL2: E3.

I agree, I was hoping to play a new Portal in the same year they said it was being released, but I guess Valve’s thng is pissing everyone off by screwing up releases, then blowing everybody the fuck away when they do…

I’m not upset about the pushback of Portal 2, because they had the decency to actually tell us. And yes, Valve has multiple teams, but they have only so much money to go around, I can’t imagine it’s not already spread thin between Portal 2, porting to Mac, porting to PS3, updating game engines, supporting released products, constant additions to TF2, that new Alien Whatever game they just released (which isn’t even generating revenue back for the cost of making it), and now DOTA.

Also, how the hell does Valve have any legal rights or access to the content of DOTA? Isn’t that just a special way of playing Warcraft 3? Aren’t they basically filing a copyright for content another living, active company made? Oh god how this happen i no good with law.

DotA was a Warcraft 3 mod, not a stock gameplay mode.

Also, Valve actually hired the mod creator so there are no legal issues here.

DOTA = Don’t Overexcite yourselves, episode Three will never Arrive.
[COLOR=‘Black’]I’m sure someone else could do better, but I suck at backronyms
IT’S ALL A VAST CONSPIRACY

EPISODE THREE IS A LIE

Gabe Newell is an insane fool!

Ugh… These impatient retards really need to learn how to wait.

I’d wait patiently if somebody official told me that there were resources going into what I’m waiting for. And I don’t just mean the bare minimum to hold copyright over the name and characters.

Episode 3 is already done. They just want to piss u off :stuck_out_tongue:

If that turned out to be true, I’d forgive them, because that would be kinda funny.

Pretty sure Valve wouldn’t work on multiple games if they had problems managing their resources.

Putting a game, Episode 3 for example, on hold so as not to spread resources too thin, is managing resources. And I STILL haven’t been given any hints that this isn’t what they’re doing to help afford to work on so many other crazy projects. I’m not asking for a gigantic press release. Hell, I’m not even asking for a complete sentence. I’d be satisfied with a random message from Valve saying “working on Episode 3”.

Steam alone gives Valve enough money to just slack off for a decade without making any new games.

Besides, all we know is that they registered the DotA name for trademark. For all we know they may have 70% of the team working around the clock on EP3 right now.

Wait, are seriously suggesting that Basshunter is better then… oh wait, you have an anime avatar.

Case closed.

Each game that Valve makes contains a piece of the code to Episode 3. Once you have collected them all, you have access to Episode 3

remember when kel put a screw in the tuna haha

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
