So I herd u dislike Ruddkipz? (Kevin Rudd replaced by Gillard)

Probably won’t concern you if you’re not from Australia, but Julia Gillard has won a vote for leadership of the Labor party and is now the current Prime Minister of Australia (and the first woman too.) Opinions, thoughts?

Well she’s the first female PM we’ve ever had, which is a good thing in and of itself.

This whole stunt means that the Labor party now has the chance to, in effect, begin again. They can scrap some of the more unpopular policies of Rudd’s government (i.e. the resource tax), without being seen as flip-flopping. I think it’ll lead to better policies, and a better chance of a victory at the next election.

Can’t really say much at the moment, wait a while and see what happens.

Yeah, except Gillard is promising to continue those policies, which makes this whole changeover look pretty needless.

I have no idea who she is.
First woman prime minister though, they’re all bonkers; just look at Margaret Thatcher!

She was Deputy PM and is now running the country.

I’ll put my bets on Labour being voted down significantly in favour of the Conservatives next election.

Conservatives?

You mean the Liberal party?

Also, I vote Greens, I approve none of this.

Her voice makes me want to shoot myself.

No, Conservatives in a coalition government with the Liberals.
I may be basing this on something a bit to heavily…

There is no Conservative party in Australia, we have the Liberals and the Nationals.

I’m personally voting for myself, I’m adding another box to the ballot paper.

Well fuck my bet then.

You’re going to win because you’d be the most awesome leader.

Oh, we’ve already established that. I’m sure I’ll win power through the choice of the people, or the military.

Too late, me and my party (the “nuke the sun” party) have already been elected as rulers of the universe and our first order of business is to nuke the sun.

So even if you get elected, you’re sitll nothing but a gnat compared to my overwhelming power.

Sigh, time for a global revolution.

Yep. No way she’s going to get my vote.

I might vote greens for the lulz.

Australia is silly… Water spins the wrong way down there!

Vote for the Communist Party for proper shenanigans.

Well she said she was willing to relook at the asylum seekers policy, as well as the mining tax and the ETS (after the next election, of course), so that should be interesting.

But yes, on the whole I think the changeover is going to mean relatively little in the grand scheme of things.

I lol’d. We’re talking about Australia. You’re talking about England.

Spread this sentiment. Spread it hard. If fomer-Labour votes red, and the standing Greens are likewise converted to vote red, you might just accomplish something statue-worthy.
