Smithsonian Art of Video Games Exhibit

And the corruption has spread to our forums, more than it already has. Great.

It’s been here for some time. Nothing new really.

But then it was the newbies, now it’s the regulars. Oh well it’s no big deal, just mildly annoying to see how stupid some of us really are.

Anyways, back ontopic to the halo argument, I apreciate that reach used it’s full colour pallete as I was expecting it to become a brown and bloom artistic style. The details on the environment and characters is pretty awesome but I wouldn’t say it has the best art direction.

Suck it Roger Ebert.
Edit: Whoops. Who was i thinking of?

fix’d

unless you are talking about some Robert Ebert I haven’t heard of…

I met Roger Ebert once, very nice man. But he’s wrong about video games, of course.

and about most movies too, nowadays. he’s a bit senile, I think.

I personally thought he was dead.

Anyhow, did anyone else have trouble choosing between the N64 games? I had a hard time choosing between the Zeldas and Paper Mario. I mean, Paper Mario wasn’t the best game ever, but it was interesting how they implemented the flatness in 3d, as well as the 3d in 2d. Then again Zelda was one of the best looking games of its time.

You’re trying REALLY fucking hard to not understand what I’m saying eh?

Either way the divisions aren’t split the way I thought it would be so I can’t nominate Halo for visual effects.

Anyway, psyconauts for 05. Fuck yeah.

HOLY SHIT… the’ve putted the best three SNES games in my opinion in the same 1! goddammit, how can i chooze between Zelda: ALtTP, Earthbound, or Chrono Trigger?! (which is one of my favorite games of all times, btw)

Also in terms of art direction REZ raped the transition era up and down the fucking street.

So maybe YOU were mistaken?

I’m really sorry. I know there is nothing more obnoxious than “u mad?” but it fit so perfectly I had to use it. Generally I avoid posting 4chanian stupidity as much as possible. And you’re wrong; it was never just the newbies, it started with the regulars and then made its way down the ranks.

roger ebert cant suck anything anymore and its pretty insensitive to suggest he should

I voted for one game, because I wouldn’t let myself vote on games I hadn’t played.

At first I was torn between HL2 and Portal, then I saw Minecraft, and couldn’t click fast enough.

Speaking of idiotic obnoxious trolls.

@thread: Yeah, guys, fuck COD and Halo. Just because they were massively popular and sold more copies than most other series…well, they can’t be good at all. Or even influential.

But teh halolz is suckzorz lololol.

I just think the logic that games that can be shit when they outsell every other game in existence is silly.

That said, they aren’t necessarily great. If the democratic system has shown us anything, its that the average man on the street is an idiot.

Minecraft not being there would be a crime against humanity. Has anyone ever met anybody that doesn’t like that game? From small children, to the most hardcore gamers…probably one of the only games to do that, and do it so well.
