Smelly Sink.

My sink smells of Egg. This started when the council fitted a new kitchen in my house. we’ve Had the drains cleaned and what not. Bleach down it and whatever. But everytime the tap turns on and water goes down the sink, a really bad smell of Egg is let off. It really does annoy me and intrigue me at the same time and i want to find out how to rectify this problem. Anyone help me? :3

Editage!: It’s Gateshead Councils problem now. I’ll let them Deal with it  Thanks to everyone who tried to help. +1 internets.

Sorry but you are looking for help in the wrong place, maybe someone else could help you but…

Where does your water come from?

I have no idea why, but I laughed like hell about this.

I have this problem at times, not sure why though.

The tap like everyone elses :stuck_out_tongue:

something grose caught in the stink trap take if off and have a look

Does it come from a well?

Done that already. All Clean.

Is it the actual water or is it coming from the drain? The reason I ask is that I have a removable sink gasket that gets ugly gunk coated on the bottom of it as a result of the garbage disposal. Once in a while I have to lift it out and clean it off.

Otherwise, if it is the water, contact your water company and ask that they come out and do testing.

Nope. Pretty sure it doesn’t. It comes from wherever water comes from these days.

Defo the drain. Doesn’t smell with the plug in when doing dishes. I’ll take a closer look and if it works then thank you. I can have a sink smelling of roses again.

Are you cooking eggs?

No i am not cooking eggs. Although i might do now because i am quite hungry :3

I like eggs

I concour ^

What is this black thing? On my sink, this comes out and underneith is where all the smelly gook builds up. Do you have one and does it come out?

Yeah i got one and i just cleaned it. Going to get the Council (Oh god) to ATTEMPT to fix the drains outside AGAIN.

It’s to stop silverware from falling down the drain, AFAIK.

  1. Get aerosol can
  2. Aim down sink
  3. Fire

Don’t forget to hold a cigarette lighter in front of the can.

To er…kill bacteria.

Yeah.
