Attempting to program gravity to make planets orbit correctly. It looks OK but is a bit crude:

I require this in desktop resolution.

I’m coding a 2d particle generator in Java. The particles fall to the bottom and bounce off until they disappear.

Is java good at coping with loads of objects like those particles, with their own variable values? I use actionscript 2 and it tends to lag like a bitch with too many objects.

Yeah it lags at 25, not actionscripts fault though, I assigned millions of variables to each planet.

Wow nice stuff.
I haven’t yet started to optimize the code performancewise. It starts to lag after 10,000 particles. The screenshot is with 1000. Every particle has some values. Maybe too many but I haven’t yet cleaned the code.

Thanks.
What are your computer specifications?
I have a GHz 3 cored processor and 4gb’s of ram. In actionscript I made a similar program to yours (but not as cool) and it starts to lag somewhere between 1000 to 2000 particles. It timesout (over 15 seconds) if I use 10,000 particles…

Oh and, lines n shit:

and uhh, glowing eggs…

completely random I know.

That’s because ActionScript is a piece of shit when it comes to compiling.

I have a 2.67ghz dual core and 5gb ram.

Yeah it’s pretty bad, do you recommend I move to JavaScript?

more progress on this thing. got a plan for the arms/legs now, hoping to start some basic shapes soon.

some music

All the koolest kats are on SoundCloud these days, right? Anyway, tell me what you think, e.g., “Those hi-hats are really obnoxious.”

That was fun. Goes well with this early morning humid temperance I’ve got going on outside my window. The hi-hats were actually my favorite part.

Everyone loves some anorexia.

I like how you have to click Show More to get that volume warning.

I’m glad you liked it. I was afraid I made the percussion a little too overpowering, but I’m pretty happy with the final result.
