It looks good, but Alien Swarm maps suffer from Team Fortress 2’s “maps looking the same problem” cubed.
Aint gonna let that happen, it’s my first map in Source but I’m loving the engine so far. Hoping for someone else to join me so we can take on more ambitious projects like a full campaign where I can spend some time adding custom made models and textures. Hopefully by the time I finish it there will still be some people playing Alien Swarm.
I’ve got a nice campaign planned out; but I’m still getting to grips with the ASw SDK… kicks his computer
6fps; 5fps.
I must say that I’m used to more impressive stuff from you man. No offense, but this is relatively weak compared to most of your stuff. And I’ve always been really fond of your style.
But this has a lot of problems. Mostly the volumes are to blame.
Especially the chest and arm appear quite flat. Furthermore I’m personally not a big fan of the smudgy look you’re going for. It has quite some anatomical issues too.
You didn’t say much about it when posting, but is this a work in progress? If not, you should refine it further. I’d suggest some harder shadows to separate the different parts. Especially his arm and chest seem to sort of melt together cause the edges are so soft and smudgy. Shadows don’t tend to be this soft even in real life.
I made a thing
o u
My ears, they’re bleeding :hmph:.
edit: I know your pain about technological stuff that keeps shitting itself out.
I don’t care much for it either. I wanted to see what happens if I tried to draw an actual person.
As for the smudginess I’m using SAI’s “water” brush. I don’t really like it so I’m gonna try opencanvas.
Heh, fair enough. What program did you use before?
Do one where it just looks like the sun is rising on a giant corgi in space. No text or anything, just the planetary corgi.
I used to use Photoshop to color, but it’s either really shitty for coloring or I’m just incapable of using it properly.
you got to block the color in and the blend it
but you must understand values! otherwise the colors look strange
I’ll just go back to lead-based watercolor pencils in the meantime.
What is this, I don’t even…
Pretty slick. Are you going to contribute it?
It looks a little too realistic to me. Make is more cartoony.
what is the red stick for?
