I’m sorry, this just looks really, really dumb.

I can’t get over how dumb that looks.
Why does it look dumb?

It reminds me of the grox on spore. 
The color, the shape, the idea.
What the hell is it? Why is there a plain circle over one of the eyes? Why are there randomly placed bolts? What the hell is it? Why does the poly count seem so low? Why the dumb round shape? How does it fit the engineers character? Why is the texture so plain? And what the hell is it?
It’s a mask the Engineer made to protect himself. After a while, it got broken from trying to wrangle robo-cows. Duh.
It doesn’t really look like that.

Try getting some depth in there. Not just cut out parts of images and paste them together. Actually take thickness of the orange peel into consideration. Think about shadows. Think about equal quality (the zipper is horrible quality compared to the apple and orange).
Also: think 3D. An orange/apple is “round”. The zipper needs to follow that roundness.
