Was that painstakingly drawn in front of a live audience?

Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses Harry!

I finally got around to rendering a model of a sofa/couch i made.

Not the greatest thing in the world, but its a good start i think.

My Sofa Render.

The model is pretty good, but the lighting needs work. See if you can bounce the light a few times to lighten up the environment (the shadows are way too dark). You should look into using Vray, you can create awesome renders with it.

Example (not mine):

Wait, that’s not photography?

Mind = blown.

Thanks for the advice, its very much appreciated. i just stuck a standard light in there for the render, but will be working on lighting scenes much better in the future, first i am getting the models done, then animating the characters within the scene, then its onto getting the lighting done, i will probably try Vray as i haven’t tried it yet, i have only been using mental ray and have used the iray renderer a little too. I just have to see what is out there, and learn how to use the different plugins.

But again, thanks for the advice.

Hi all, long time no see. Just showing my last (a bit old now…) animation. I think it turned out quite good although my vision of the audio was a little different. But hey, I’m just an animator ;P.

Fully CG…

Looks pretty cool

Another map I made! This time more suiting for these forums :freeman:

Actyualy, that’s really nice. I like the spotlight effect you have and the lights that click on afterwards.

Lurked for… a year and 3 months, and on my birthday, i will post my wip glock 24 model. CUZ I BORED.
Update : Made the trigger guard more blocky, fixed trigger polygon issues.

No fancy render, nothing. I suck at modeling, and I am very inefficient, and I basically was bored as hell when I did this. AND somehow the meshsmooth fucks the back part up. I don’t know why.

here.

 Dead Space xD

that shit just blew my mind man

VERY good tune

Ooh, my thread has been moved/merged. Wanted someone to do that.

Rendering a basic scene with shadows and ambient occlusion (skip the V-ray part, V-ray does not come with 3ds max):

Start with the first then continue to the bottom = all your problems solved.

edit:

Also, before you render, go to Rendering -> Rendering Setup -> Renderer - Then look for the Anti-Aliasing part and change the default Filter “Area” to “Catmull-Rom”

I know how to make a render thank you, I’m just lazy. (and lacks in decent ideas and textures.)

I WILL use the subdivision thing. Looks really nice. Thank you.

TURBOSMOOTH IS FOR BABIES. (Nah, I’ll try it. I usually use Meshsmooth though.)

Edit : Also planning to buy a book. However, I am quite short on budget, (since we are moving, we is out of moneee) and it’ll take time. Any suggestions on good books?

Edit2 : GOD, This guy has the most droning voice ever.

Edit3 : That’s enough of 3ds max for today. I am tired and I will finish the fire hydrant example tomorrow and post it here.

Turbosmooth works exactly the same as meshsmooth except that it has been simplified so that it’s less memory intensive and has better performance. Most people I know use turbosmooth only.

As far as books go, I don’t really suggest those for actually learning how to model using specific software. Your money would be better spent on video tutorials.

If you can find a site with videos that can help me model better and teach me something, I will give you cookies.
