Here’s 2 things I recently did.

Here’s an album cover I made for a friend’s band. The art was done with fineliners, markers and pastels. The logo’s are digital.

And here’s a pencil drawing I did recently:

And please full view em, the sizedown doesn’t do em justice.

Love 'em
.

Try to learn crosshatching, smuding looks, well, smudgy

thx. No it looks great. I just didn’t like the design of it. It looks to unnatural.

i actually rightcliked and saved them , i love them

I think it looks better than crosshatching.

I went on hiatus from mapping while I reinstalled my OS and started playing Oblivion and Starcraft 2. Loaded Hammer up tonight and working some more on an old project. Gonna do a model for the glass dome ceiling next.

This is nothing but a dead end really, I’m looking for a fun project to collaborate on but don’t have anything at the moment.

You cannot find people who smudge better than this. You can, however, find more able crosshatchers.

Thanks man

Yeah I usually crosshatch. I do think the smudging is rather fitting here in a few ways. I dunno if crosshatching would’ve made it better, but it would’ve certainly given the whole thing a different feel.

Haha that’s awesome man, much apreciated.

Nice link, very inspirational. That guy is fantastic.
I’m gonna study that for a bit.

I bet he can crosshatch, it’s just THIS LOOKS BETTER :hmph: Seriously, if you have the time, why not do this, crosshatching is rough as fuck unless you spend a long time on it.
.

Why yes it looks extrimely rough.

Smudging means your drawing will lose shape and value. It is just way too uncontrollable, meaning that to produce fine detals will take much, much longer than crosshatching.

A little ingenuity. Made a hands-free boombox out of my backpack. PLUS! It’s not just limited to iPods. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tell me that hatching didn’t take time to do and I won’t believe you

Uh. Well you can see some of the shading of the general shapes is haphazardy and goes over the defined lines. Of course you will slow down when you get to rendering details. What is it that you are trying to say exactly? Good technique takes too long so use worse ones because they are faster? Smuding isn’t exactly fast you know.

I am implying that I LIKE THE FINISH THE SMUDGING GIVES. I never said crosshatching was bad did I? I just use it in a far quicker looser way.

I have a small pen made of paper which I used for smudging.
(Not sure what it’s called in English)

But it has a very small tip, and it’s actually quite accurate and controllable.
It also, unlike using fingers, does not get the paper greasy, which means you can apply several layers. So it’s actually more controllable than you might think.

Oh okay I must’ve misread your posts then.

Huh.
But okay I’ll believe smuding is better than hatching when I see something greater produced by using it.

An image would help.

Personally I think both crosshatching and smudging can produce a certain unique look and feel, and both can be good depending on the situation. It’s a subjective matter anyway, and it’s rather futile to discuss.

Here’s a pic:

That looks like it would screw around with the values unless it was sharpened v.regularly. The tip gets saturated with graphite and fucks the lighter shades up.
I might be wrong I haven’t used one of those.

Huh. Misread or purposefully left out, I wonder.
