It just has a Star Wars feel for me. I can’t really put my finger on why, but it does.

Rancor

Huh, now its obvious.

EDIT: And now every dinosaur has that feel for me. Damn it.

ONCE YOU SEE IT

Here is a holiday gift:

A yeti With a meat cleaver, Very Christmas-Y

I think I am in love.

So I recently intoruced myself to edirol orchestral, which is pretty legit orchestral synthesizer. Decided to test it out, here’s the outcome:

a digital re-arrangement of Hans Zimmer’s Time

also, something more digital for you electroheads out there:

Really dig both of those.

The rearangement of ‘Time’ is great. Not only is that my favourite tune on the soundtrack, but you also did a real pro job. Amazing sound even only using Edirol, which, being midi, is rather limited as far as realism goes. But you just managed to make it sound great, a lot better than I imagined it could.

That house/electro track is real nice too, cool tune. Totally my type of music. Can I download it somewhere?

Yeah right? Makes me happy everytime I look at it.

I think you two would make a great couple.

Thanks. Yeah it took horrible amounts of reverb, panning, recording EQing and automation clips to make it sound right. I was kind of impressed how close you can get to a real orchestra sound with a relatively cheap vst plugin.

As for the housey stuff, when I finish it completely, I could make it downloadable. Thanks for the feedback man, I appreciate.

I can only imagine. I’ve worked with Orchestral for about a year now, never got anything close to that out of it. Ah well, comes with experience I guess.

That would be awesome, looking forward to it. And no problem (:

On a different note, here’s my first pixel art in a while:

Done for a Secret Santa event at Pixelation.

Good fun, took about 15 hours including sketches etc. 13 colours in total.
The anti-cephalopod thing is there because I originally wanted to have it fighting a giant octopus, but I ran out of time.

Here’s the sketches too:
(1: Just a quick sketch to get an idea of what I wanted to do. Doesn’t make much sense technically. 2: Just fleshing out all the views. 3: Detail shot, decided it was too blocky and 90’s looking so made 4: A more modern and dynamic looking version. 5: Side view detail, trying to figure out what to do with the legs. 6: Some quick scene sketches, also a quick detail of the gun arm. 7: For funsies.)

I love blocky dog-legged robots like that, nice work.

I don’t know much about pixel art. Is it just done with really low res brushes, or do you do it pixel by pixel?

Thanks man.

Pixel art is done completely by hand, only brushes without any effects can be used. So all the AA and other effects have to be done by hand. The first stage you can just sketch and go crazy. It’s only in the detailing that you work pixel by pixel. Smoothing curves, AAing edges etc.

So basically, it’s using an older version of Paint to make something that actually looks good. I’m gonna try it out.

Yeah Paint works just fine. You can also just try Photoshop, if you only use the pencil tool it’s fine as well.

There is a specialized program for it that I always use called ProMotion. You can try a free 30day trial here:

I recommend it. Been using it for a long while, and it’s really good.

If you want some inspiration check this: https://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp?ob=favorites

Oh and do show it here when you finish it ey? (:

graphicsgale

ProMotion is better.

epicness. can’t wait till it will be downloadable

also, what program did you use for that? FL?

After quite awhile here’s something new that I’ve started to write. It’s only part one, however.
