Should I wait, or play orginal HL

Addressing all those who haven’t played Half Life:

Perhaps the reason that so many of us get a little put-off by some of you not playing the original is because the commitment of waiting and staying active with the community is heavily based around our eagerness to play Half Life with new eyes again.

I mean, I wouldn’t spend over 6 years on a forum for a game that I have never played that’s only a mod. Not to shoot down Black Mesa or anything, but it shouldn’t really look that amazing to someone who doesn’t understand what their seeing, should it? (That was very subjective and I could definitely be wrong)

What if you don’t like the game for some crazy reason?
Fans know that there’s a great chance that we will love it because it’s a remake of a game the all the fans obviously adore - get what I’m trying to say? I’m sure you people who haven’t played the original will enjoy the game, but what drives you to stay so active and eager? I’ve never spent so much time with a community waiting for any other game besides this and I have to say that the mod being a remake of Half Life is almost 90% of the reason.

Just a contention…

I actually got excited about the mod from Freeman’s Mind, and seeing the comparison screenshots. Yeah, I eventually got the original anyway, but I’ve been on the forums longer than I’ve owned it. (and it’s expansions)

At least you’ll have an idea – I don’t know where some of the other people on this forum get their tenacity to stick around here.

I guess some people just REALLY like video-games…

Psh, I don’t think I’d call it tenacious of us, I’d call it sticktoitivous of us.

EDIT: And according to my silly little steam forum tag dealie, I’ve been playing L4D2 Authoring Tools for well over six months now. I think it’s wrong.

You need to put your steam id number in the profile not your steam name.

I think I hurt my tongue trying to pronounce that just now. Thank you for introducing me to tungue cramps >_<

It’s easy: Stick-two-it-iv-uss

It’s “sticktoitivness”. Stick-to-it-ive-ness.

https://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sticktoitiveness

That’s the funnest fucking word I’ve ever said.

Haha that’s an actual word?

I hope so…

that’s the worst word i’ve ever seen

The only reason I didn’t use the common sticktoitivness is because that wouldn’t be the proper participle. That lables a level of something, while I was merely saying that we were in possession of an unspecified level of sticktoitivness. It’s kind of like saying “My healthiness is quite high” instead of saying “I am quite healthy”. Which is why I went with sticktoitivous. I should have just gone with sticktoitiv, but it doesn’t sound nearly as fun. Also, it’s a very copout-y bs-y word in the first place.

But anyway, a tad more on topic (and by a tad, I mean completely more on topic), you should definitely play the original HL if you haven’t.

I have only heard the term used in corporate jargon. shrug

That’s an extremely good point. I’ve always wondered why the hell I keep finding myself on this damn forums everyday whether or not I contribute to the community, and I’m damned serious.

You can’t have the same experience today as allot of people did back in 1998 at age 14 or so. Perceptions alter too much. The experience is unexplainable.

The same feeling as playing Chrono Trigger on Super Nintendo at age 10 or something.

I feel like I grew up when games were at their most creative but the technology couldn't keep up. Now it's the other way around. Imagination Can't keep up with Technology. =( Money got too involved

exactly sir

Dude, are you seriously asking this question? Because everyone know this mod is not actually in development. It’s only a ploy to get you to these forums. Even if you wait for another 5 years, that is all you will be doing, waiting! Go play other games and play them often, because the chance of this game ever coming out is right up there with the likelihood that I will be elected President of The United States.

Peace, Defender

It’s only a ploy to get you to these forums

wow…I don’t even…what? what? Now here is a guy who speaks like a true president of the US. I think the devs are muslim terrorist too. They only have the forums open to fuck with us, and bring our moral down so there will be even more mosques built, and that shit is dangerous. Buildings.

Peace brother

No - the true secret is that the members of this forum are an elite squad of soul phishers. Whenever someone makes an account, we steal their fucking soul and sell it to Necromancers and Warlocks.

I just bought HL Source recently and am going to play through that. Didn’t know the game had some slight texture updates and new sound effects. Of course, still not as good as the GoldSrc original.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
