Serious Texture Glitch, help please!

CCC 12.6 took cared of it. Thanks!

on Win 7 x64, Intel T7500, Ati mobility HD 3650 (CCC12.4)

if the links are broken:

I noticed when I Alt-tab to desktop and return, it’ll restore…for like 3 seconds

any advice would be thankful

p.s :s orry for my bad english

looks familiar :slight_smile: I re-installed video driver and that helped.

Maybe Directx is the problem, in the launch option of the game type -dxlevel 100 (if still don’t work try -autoconfig) Hope that helped

Looks like you haven’t turned ‘hardware rendering’ up to full.

common problem of Nvidia Drivers. i had same problems with same texture glitches in Mass Effect 1 and 2, Solved the problem by changing driver, downgrading it till texture issues dissipated. had to change 3-5 driver versions to get rid of tht ugly-looking textures.

i had this issue right b4 my video card died.

this indeed looks like fucked up vertices due to overheating GPU.
But if always the same objects at the same relative position are affected, it could as well be a driver issue. Check your temperatures and drivers! Especially taking into account that you have an ATI mobility chip which probably has not got the best driver treatment.

thank you all!
the driver was downloaded with official ATI auto downloader or stuff like that.
I found that HL2 Deathmatch had the same problem, so I reinstall the driver, but the issue remains…
@Tikuf thank you, but the configs doesn’t work for me

@Langenscheiss my laptop is Acer 5920G and it’s always in high temperatures, so there’s nothing I can’t do about it ~"~

I checked AMD pages again and found out there’s a newer driver(12.6) release
I’ll tried it later, thank you all

I have 12.6 version driver now(HD3600). Try to uninstall Catalist completely. That resolved my problem with the discussed glitches.

ningen, had you tried to read first before posting answers? :slight_smile:

2OP: Glitches looks like messed up triangles which 90% of the times means overheated or underpowered GPU with rest 10% being a driver errors. Knowing that this problem “auto-heals” for a brief moment after Alt-Tab-bing from the game most probably it is really an overheating GPU rather than a driver bug: you alt-tab from the game -> load on GPU lowers down -> GPU cools down a bit -> you get back into the game -> GPU can’t heat up to a “faults starting temperature” immediately thus it work OK for some time it takes to heat up.
If this is a laptop - you should service it (either yourself or bring it to a service company offering this kind of works) by “refreshing” the thermointerface between CPU/GPU cooler/radiator plate and chips themseleves. And another typical cause of the laptop’s overheating is a lot of garbage (cats/dogs hair, dust and alike) accumulated on the radiator plate inside the laptop making normal cooling air flow impossible. As a temporarily measure you could try to downclock your GPU though but having cooling system cleaned would be a better idea.

Problem solved!

After installed 12.6 the discussed glitches(indeed) finally gone.
just can’t understand why AMD tool gave me 12.4 while there’s a 12.6 whql…
Thank you guys!

Will change the title later.
P.S : They changed the voice acting, maybe is due to copyright, but I prefer the orignal one :slight_smile:
is there a way to put it back?

Make sure to check GPU temperature though - it might be just an overheat protection working properly in new driver version. But in case it was really a bug in drivers - well, yet another example why I do not buy ATI card since the moment I had similar “full of bugs” experience with Radeon 9500 Pro. nVIDIA also isn’t perfect WRT bugs in drivers but they have way less problems (especially with linux versions of the drivers) compared to what people got with ATI/AMD. And it could be a programmer nightmare when it comes to OpenGL/GLSL vs. ATI :-(.

that freaking CCC didn’t give me any driver updates for about 6 months, although there were new driver and software available to download via update manager which did its job but with no result, i.e. nothing changed and I got the same drivers every time I ran update =/ so be vigilant and check the driver version you have “just updated”

@lexa2
thank you, I prefer Nv drivers too! But Acer’s nasty rules forbidden to replace a card other than the defective geforce 8 series, leave me no choice to give ati a try
(I’m a Taiwanese in Taiwan, and this is how bad a Taiwanese company treat me… just ignore the problem, while others like Apple,HP, Dell had their GPU replacement)

@mahalingam
If you had a card older than HD 5 series, like me(3650), Ati had stopped supporting them(3 4 series and below), that is ccc12.6 would be the latest driver forever…
But when it comes to games like D3,they’ll get some hotfix too, sometimes.
