Sorry, how do you pronounce “orange” in one syllable? ORNJ? What the fuck is that?

It definitely has two, both in a technical and practical sense. The second is /3 n dz/
(Sorry for the cheap IPA imitations there).
The crucial thing is that the unstressed vowel separates the word.
Also I didn’t say the rhyme with syringe was perfect but it’s pretty close (and the word you have to modify pronunciation of for it to work perfectly is actually syringe and not orange).
‘Suh-ringe’, basically.
Nah, it’s OR-RINJ and SIR-RINJ to most people. 
Lozenge rhymes well with orange. Challenge, scavenge are not bad either. My rhyming app shows a few others that are hit or miss for orange…
