i should have said, “REinstalled”.
The last time i rebuilt my computer i didn’t bother installing Steam because i never use it aside from HL games. Because my internet connection sucks so bad i never bothered to reinstall HL2 again. i used to play through each HL game annually but because of the hassle i just gave up.

Hey, most of this is my fav. 
The latest nVidia drivers have support for forcing on SSAO in HL2, which makes the lighting nicer.
i literally JUST downloaded the newest drivers for my chipset. Any idea on how to set up his forced lighting? i’ve completely given up on FakeFactory’s incredibly non-Cinematic waste-of-disk-space. cries i just want better lighting!

I haven’t had time to try it myself - check the nVidia site tho…
not sure if it works, but someone try forcing the DX level to 7… might look like Quake, but it COULD make it run better.
