I thought that, by redistribution of wealth, you were talking about taking everyone’s money and redistributing it equally. If you mean taking part of the taxes and helping the poor, well, I’m all for it, but I’d rather see the money spent in something more permanent than just “feeding”, e.g. the creation of jobs, better education, diminishing taxes for the masses and increasing them for the privileged people and so on.

It is a lot sillier to think that it is easy to make a revolution that works as intended.
Changing the country from the inside little by little actually happens, I mean, in the real world. People will always be unsatisfied, yes, and I hope they always are, because the time that people get satisfied will be the time that society will stop evolving. However, the problems that makes us unsatisfied today are not as “bad” as the problems that society had before.
It is an exaggeration to expect a revolution to create a perfect system. All that a revolution does is to create a new system, which can be randomly better or worse than the current one. However, our system is much better than the average system that ruled society so far. A revolution now would be like Raminator saying “the current stage of Black Mesa is not perfect, let’s burn everything up and restart from the beginning”. That would work if Black Mesa was a complete crap, but it’s not.
If you think a system cannot be changed from the inside, you are wrong. I don’t know how your country is doing, but here there are new projects of laws involving political corruption, homosexual marriage, homophobia, and a lot of new material are being given to public schools. Far from perfect? Yes, but it is getting better.

Who talked about sitting on our asses and do nothing? Just because someone is not fighting for a revolution in the system, doesn’t mean one is doing nothing to try to change the world.
well yeah. the worlds mandelas have been some amazing people but either through lack of scope or misguided faith in basic human decency all of their efforts and sacrifices have brought the world results like modern day south africa. that is not good enough for me. you have to cut the head off of the beast to kill it. and maybe the extra heads that grow in its place if its a hydra. i dont know man. i dont have any solutions just glib assessments of the problems

Redistribution of wealth isn’t socialism. Socialism is common ownership of the means of production. And redistribution of wealth doesn’t necessarily mean “redistribute it equally”.
I am for all of the latter (“taking part of the taxes and helping the poor”).

What you are saying sounds like exactly what I meant when I talked about magic solutions. That is what you want, utopia. You have to come back to the real world and start working on real solution to real problems.
You are the one with a lazy ass that refuse yourself to get involved in little things like voluntary work, sending e-mails to politicians, arguing with people on Internet… If you can’t even do that, which is simple, how do you think you will be able to stand in a manifestation when a bunch of cops come with their nightsticks and start beating everyone? If you react with anger in such a situation, that will give them more reason to suppress the manifestation. You will need to stay calm and get beaten, and then come back in the next day and get beaten a little more, like Gandhi.

What kind of argument is that? That sounds like religious talking. No, I mean it, you sound like a Christian saying to an atheist that he must start believing in God. It seems you think that making everyone believe in what you believe is the only way to change the world, you blame the beliefs that others have for the big problems in the world, exactly like religious folks. However, what is really to blame are people blaming other people’s beliefs, like you, instead of getting their fucking asses off of the chair.

In Canada, we have socialized healthcare. If we lose two fingers, we don’t have to choose which one to save because we can’t afford both. Most* Americans can’t say that.
