GRR MANESTREME STINCKS! FITE THE SISTEM! GEORGE W BUSH GRR
Thus bringing us to the end of this enquiry.
Read my post for why mainstream is bad.
I have, and I do not see what they do in the mainstream as a particularly bad thing. If I took music seriously I may agree with you. A lot of the stuff flowing through the mainstream is real catchy, if abhorrently so.
I listen to everything. I’m pretty sure there’s no genre that wouldn’t include at least 1 decent track or artist. I think it’s a insult to music if you listen only one or two artist/genres during your life.
Jazz, Country, Alternative Rock, Indie, Power Metal, Nu Metal, Soul, House, Drum and bass, Funk, Classical…
[COLOR=‘Black’]I even find some of Justin Bieber’s choruses pretty catchy.
The only genre that I generally dislike is screamo and all that other scene pop-metal faggotry. But even there I can find good things, believe it or not. Also speedcore and splittercore techno. (Don’t search it up, it really is as bad as it sounds)
As for the topic, I don’t dislike either, but I find more good artists from Metal than HipHop. Though that’s maybe because I’ve listened metal/rock more during my life.
@Ramirezoid Mass music is generally disliked among the “real musicians” because there’s so big amounts of money in the business that it’s not about making music anymore, it’s just marketing and brainwashing more prepubescent fans to buy the decent music and worship the artist. (Note that this is not necessarily my opinion, just what I’ve heard millions of times.)
please, please tell me you’re 13. if you’re not you’re legitimately retarded
I don’t see a problem if that’s the smallest of samples of what I listen to. What specifically with that list do you take issue with?
EDIT: Actually, I don’t see a problem listening to any them, period.
I like alternative rock, ambient, blues, breakbeat, breakcore, classic rock, classical, death metal, disco, drum & bass, dub, dubstep, folk, funk, garage, grunge, hip-hop, house, industrial, jazz (+jazz-funk, jazz-rock, jazz-trance, big band, …), jungle, leftfield, metal, nu metal, post-punk, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, punk, qawwali, r&b (rhythm & blues, not beyoncé-style r&b, though there’s some good stuff in there as well), ragga metal, ragtime, rap, reggae, ska, plain old rock, rock & roll, synth-pop, techno, thrash metal, trance, tribal, trip-hop, “world” (though I dislike the term), …

Huge metalhead/metalfag here, I love metal, rock and listen most of the other music genres too. the only rap i ever listened was eminem’s songs. And I stopped listening to him a year ago. I hate most of the rap music.
Alt Rock; industrial, power, death, heavy, viking metal… Yeah fuck this! I’ll just say i like metal & rock
Not very bad but seriously there are a lot of better groups than these ones out there. but again it’s your own taste.
I was giving an example bands who mix metal and rap. I love Korn and Slipknot, but Tool and anything else touched by Maynard is still god to me.
Since we are going through different genres, why not.
Alternative, alt. metal, experimental, artistic, nu-metal, thrash metal, industrial, electronic, funk, funk metal, metalcore, etc.
EDIT: And LP’s first two albums literally changed my life back in the day. Hybrid Theory and Meteora are still really solid albums, actually.
Why the fuck pit hip hop against rock?
Stop whoring ffs.
all of it. because it’s all shitty shit that 13 year olds trying to be “hardcore” listen to. it’s shit you listen to if you live in a trailer park and you’re angry about it.
Not really but alright.
EDIT: Although, it’s an opinion. You like things I think are shitty, I like things you think are shitty, so it all evens out. Everyone’s music taste is better than everyone else’s.
don’t really know slipknot or korn, but limp bizkit’s first album is pretty good (pretty much goes downhill from there though, but the second and third are enjoyable imo), and yeah, I’ve always thought anything from linkin park I’ve heard was mediocre at best
meh, linkin park was definitely the best one mentioned but that doesn’t say much. first two albums + remix one werent THAT bad and i liked a lot of the songs that were predominantly singing. dude’s got a pretty distinctive voice, and i like that a lot. but after that, eh
Well I’m a big fan of Shinoda…not a HUGE fan of Chester, but he’s alright.
But yeah, Shinoda totally wins LP for me.
EDIT: Limp Bizkit…certainly not my favorite, but there are a couple songs they made that I really like, namely Rollin’, Break Stuff, Livin’ It Up, and Take a Look Around.
I still love anything done by Slipknot and Korn, no matter you sayin’. Always have, probably always will. Even if they aren’t my absolute favorite groups, they’re still up there in my top five.
I’ll give an e-cookie to anyone that knows youssou n’dour
Senegal singer, amirite?
Hopefully someone’s already plugged them, but Refused is an excellent band. “The Shape of Punk to Come” is one of my most listened to records, aside from Bloc Party’s “Intimacy,” the various segments of Celldweller’s “Wish Upon A Blackstar,” and Nine Inch Nails’ “The Downward Spiral.”
Personally I typically do not like rap as a general rule of thumb. Something about it just rubs me the wrong way.
Celldweller fucking kicks ass.
