Purple/Black Checkers after -dxlevel 90

Hello. I’m seeing the purple/black checker issue with almost all the textures in Black Mesa. I followed Flarekitsu’s advise and entered “-dxlevel 90” in my start up options, but it has not made a difference. Any advise would be appreciated.

My System:

ASRock 970 Extreme3
3.10 gigahertz AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
16 GB RAM

Try this:

 1. Add “-dxlevel 98” instead of “-dxlevel 90”
 2. Launch the game
 3. Quit the game after it loaded into the menu
 4. Remove “-dxlevel 98” from the launch options
 5. Play!

Thanks to lexa2 for explaining it to me earlier!

Sadly the “-dxlevel 98” trick didn’t work either.

purple/black checkers are due to missing texture files.

Are you certain that you have downloaded Source SDK 07 & 06?

Have you done anything weird, like trying to manually install BMS?

Do I need 06 as well as 07 for the SDK in order for some textures/effects to show correctly?

please ensure that the folder placed into “sourcemods” is named “BMS”:
\Steam\steamapps\sourcemodsBMS

This can help resolve issues with game saves, subtitles, chapter names, and possibly any other issues that may be caused by utilizing the wrong folder name.

If you are still having issues, please try re-downloading the mod from another mirror.

Yeah, you will need 06 and 07. If you chose to Install 07, 06 should start automatically downloading after 07 is finished. (As 07 is built on top of 06).

Also, listen to that guy ^
