Red Faction 
If only more games had implemented awesome destruction effects like that…
I remember buying Red Faction on release for $100 (the Australia tax is fantastic) after playing the demo I got on the cover disk of a gaming magazine (years before I had internet access).
I seem to remember it looking spectacular and running surprisingly well on the Pentium 3 / Nvidia Riva TNT2 computer I had back then.

Homeworld: GOTY edition
Even at near-minimal settings, this game looks fantastic.

It’s so bright.
Probably an intentional contrast to Bioshock 1 & 2.
It gets much darker later on; when shit finally goes down there’s a dramatic thunderstorm covering the city.
The campaign in this game does a really good job of making you feel fucked while at the same time not being super hard

Took this shot at the perfect time. The lightening was lighting up the area. Only thing that would have been better would be the lightening strike being behind the pseudogiant.
I really want to play SoC again. Still have yet to play CoP either, though, so I’ll probably play that first.
I’m still stuck in the last bit on the first one where you’re in this heavily irradiated bunker thing.
When I found out where to go for real that part became a lot easier.

They opened fire on the ship I was salvaging but destroyed one of my salvo teams so this started happening
What’s with the black bar on the right side of the screen?
I’m not seeing that running Homeworld 1.05 at 1920x1080
idk, in the menu the res appeared fine, (1680x1050) but in game it has that small bar. I barely notice it though, so I can live with it.
I tried setting it to 1280x800 just to test it but that just got even more fucked up, made the bottom half of the screen like that

I’m using OpenGL, setting the resolution through the registry - if you’re using Direct3D or the software renderer and/or somehow having non-4;3 / 5:4 resolutions showing up in the in-game video options, that might be the cause.

The quality is pretty shitty through, since I took it myself, and I think imgur turned it into a .jpg for some reason.
I set the res through the registry as well, but I can’t play in OpenGL for some reason. Whenever I try to switch to it it just says “failed to initialize”
That would look amazing without the water effect

Try to get someone to craft some artwork of that without the water; there’s always someone out there who’s desperate to draw up some shit if it means someone will use it.
