AC1 always had a relatively desaturated color palette but it was particularly bad in Acre due to the omnipresent cloud cover. I think Acre was my least favorite of the game’s cities because of that and the large water area where Altair practiced his Super Drowning Skills.
Each of the different cities seems to have its own colour theme:
Acre is blue-grey (coastal + foggy)
Damascus is brown / tan (desert-like)
Jerusalem is green-grey
[The] Kingdom is (mostly) brown
Masyaf is a bit different, it doesn’t seem to be tinted any particular colour.
:aah:
Gonna go kill me some Nazis
What game is that?
Death to Spies (or Death to Spies: Moment of Truth?)
Jade Empire still looks pretty good…
…aside from the cutscenes:
That’s what happens when you pre-render the cutscenes at original resolution for console (i.e. 480p). Pre-rendered cutscenes in a lot of things look like shit, tbh.

Most dangerous part of the game right here:
At least it’s equally deadly to enemies.
These days assassins have quite the opposite issue;
LOL. What in the actual fuck. That’s one weird ass glitch.

Seems the new water physics tech they were going on about doesn’t always work as expected
EDIT: random screenshot I took playing the first game (while messing around in 3840x2160):

EDIT2: I thought it was just AC1 that had desaturated colours
EDIT3: at a different time of day

What game is that?

Death to Spies (or Death to Spies: Moment of Truth?)
Yep, it’s Death to Spies, the original. Incredibly fun. It plays quite a bit like the Hitman games. If you like stealth games and are sick of the drought you’ve probably never played it (I only just recently became aware of its existence) so I’d highly recommend it. Apparently the sequel is quite a bit better so I can’t wait to get to it.

EDIT: Yay, Assassin’s Creed 2 has a first-person mode without always-on Eagle Vision:

I’ve been thinking about nabbing the latest Assassins Creed. Does it play better for Console or PC though? Not sure which to get.
Heard a developer interview basically say they didn’t bother optimizing the game on PC because everyone could just get better hardware, or something equally stupid.
That said, I’m getting it on PC anyway because Amazon had it for half price.

What he said was misinterpreted / taken out of context - what he was saying sounded more like it was about the upper limit of graphics quality settings/features on the PC version compared to what the consoles were limited to.
A statement from the developer in response to those click-bait articles
“There was no tech developed during the R&D phase that wasn’t optimized prior to shipping on each platform - PC included.”
