pretty sweet, but doesn’t the lack of case just make it annoying to do anything to the PC?
.

nothing serious can happen to it, except id get dusted faster, but it’s easier to clean it this way, as it’s easier to access the main parts,
it also makes less noise without resonating box,
and the main thing is in the rational space usage ,)

Ridiculous new cooler time.
Installed my new Prolimatech Megahalems on my cpu yesterday.
A 16cm long hunk of metal that weighs nearly a kilo.
Now that’s a cooler.
Got my i7 920 running at 3.66 now (Instead of 2,66]

EDIT: Allright, got it at 3,8 now.
Tried to get it higher but haven’t been able to keep it stable there yet.

Here you can see the proportions a bit better. So you can compare that cooler to the Videocard.
Remember, that’s an 4870x2. Not exactly the smallest videocard in the world.
And there’s only around 2 milimeters of space left between my memory and the cooler. Just barely fits.

Man, the 285 2GB is huge as well, and so much power consumption.

One of these days they’re just going to make a separate box that attaches to the outside of the computer that’ll be the graphics card.

USB graphics card? :fffuuu:

That’s pretty impressive and all, but… mine is bigger

How could that be xD
What do you have then?
As far as I know, when it comes to heatsinks, only the TRUE 120 is bigger than the Megahalems.

Does your cooler have the autobots symbol on it?

I should do that. It’d have to be a Decepticon logo though.

Awesomeness, that PC on the desk seems a great idea

Suddenly a wild Scythe Orochi Appears:

Also looking at my Scythe Infinity beside my TRUE 120 the Infinity is also bigger…though not quite as good.

EDIT: there is also the Gemini2:

Overkill much? I wonder what’s the difference(if any) between idle temp and load temp with a cooler like that

A square heatsink? What the hell for :open_mouth:
What’s that monster called?

And I’m interested in knowing what you’re pc’s got under the hood now

Which computer? I have a lot of 'em.
I am a genuine computer hardware addict.
For coolers I’ve got:

Scythe Infinity
Thermalright ultra 120
Zalman CNPS 9700 LED
Scythe Mini Ninja
And I think the one in the folding node right now is a Xigmatek HDT-S1283, or it might be an OCZ vendetta 2, I can’t recall which one.

You can’t even put your tower vertically with this thing it would probably rip the glue and break what holds it.

Something like that. That’s a bigass heatsink.

I have a question, what’s better between a Core 2 Quad and an i7?

i7s are essentially the best desktop cpu on the market.

i7 is newer, from the site I’m looking at, it looks like they are all 1366 CPUs which use the corresponding 1366 sockets, as opposed to previously being 775. It’s a newer technology which basically means the restrictions of the previous type are now changed. Means they have the ability to be faster processors, but the current ones are a lot more expensive then quad core, as it’s a newer technology.

Means you’ll have to get a new motherboard if you want to upgrade to i7.
