Post Your Desktop

I rarely ever turn off my computer, like once every two weeks, and everything’s going fine for me.

Damn I should have made note of my uptime before I restarted my computer :frowning: .

And I might as well post my current desktop since I’ve posted in here so much.

:awesome:

thanks

why would you not turn off your computer? it takes all of 10 seconds, maybe 20, to boot it up, and the amount of energy you’re wasting is ridiculous, unless you’re on your computer 24/7

Agreed, I don’t see the point in leaving it on.

This.

The only problem is you can’t let other people near your computer. Thats was my problem.

its actually better to leave a computer on for most of the time. turning it off a lot causes the connections on the Motherboard to get fried and malfunction of course they are built to have a huge number of circuit paths for everything but its not infinite. The amount of life it adds to your pc is pretty insignificant though.

If you’re going down that route, you might as well counter with the fact that the life of your fans will drop enormously if they’re running for that long :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d think this discussion would have stopped at the cost of electricity.

Not to mention if you have your computer near your bed you don’t want to hear it all night.

Or you could argue that a computer on hibernate is actually “off”.

Yeah, but startup from hibernate seems to be about as long as startup from shutdown (for me).

At uni my computer is in my room, and yeah, unless I need to have it on, I shut it down properly. It’s got a couple of blue lit fans, but they’re subtle, the real issue is the noise.

Got a new screen, exact same as my main, so now I have 2 identical 1920x1080 monitors.

Pic is a screenshot from EVE, that I touched up a bit in PS.

I don’t pay for the electricity and I sleep with a fan on anyway so the sound isn’t a bother :3 .

Should have got a third at the same time.

mother earth does though

Could’t.

I was lucky to even get this one, it was a demo screen for a PC in just some random store, besides, I’d need to buy a new video card to use a 3rd one.

Not if it’s “free energy” a.k.a. geothermal.

A.k.a. milking heat from the tidal forces the moon’s orbit has on us, converting the moon’s motion into atmospheric heat. Nothing bad could happen from using as much geothermal energy as we possibly can.
