Uh huh…
Why pay for WoW when this is just as good and free?
Uh huh…
Why pay for WoW when this is just as good and free?
Because it is not as good. Anything made by gPotato, Kijiji and all that stuff is the same: Boring and not really free when you look at it closer. And trust me, I’ve literally got years of experience.
It isn’t made by gPotato. It’s made by Astrum Nival and is apparently the most expensive game to ever come out of Russia.
Sure there is a cash shop but from what I’ve seen so far it won’t be necessary to buy from it.
Also, Gibberlings are better than any race in WoW.
So? I’m not sure what’s your point here.
Sure, just play it for more than two days and see how people who used the cash shop are over nine-thousands times better than you are.
My point is it’s well funded and from what I’ve read not some “free to play but you must spend cash in our store to compete” game put out by gPotato.
Either way, MMO’s are shit.
From what I’ve read, it’s the same as every MMOs that claims to be totally free to play.
I will disagree on that one. Anarchy Online was and is still fantastic. As were Runescape and Kal Online until a certain point where everything went down.
An MMO is inherently a flawed system in my opinion.
The combat’s going to be dull because it’s always the same style click, select action, wait, select other action, wait etc. The only one I’ve seen that doesn’t do this, was Fallen Earth and that was awful.
There’s never going to be proper story, because that just wouldn’t work in an MMO environment. Sure, there’s some kind of plot development, but the fact that the only interaction your likely to get from characters is them asking you to go kill something prevents the player from getting involved. Plus there’s the fact that you’ll frequently see other players going to do the same world-savey quest you just did, making it seem unimportant.
They’re never finished, never polished. Until the time they close down, the developers constantly update and revise the game which is not only frustrating because you feel like you’re stick in a beta, but it also means that any specific character setups get periodically fucked.
That sounds a lot like EVE when they made every character class equal and for roleplay purposes only…
But at least with EVE CCP want your actions to actually mean something in the game universe rather than just another yob doing the same storyline everyone else has and will do in that game.
I always thought WoW combat was fun. I agree that story in an MMO is nothing but I don’t play MMOs for story. I don’t play any games for the story really, I’ve only ever cared about the story in the Half Life and Mass Effect series.
i agree with soup , and also - when you’re a newbie you get the shit beaten out of you regularly …
I will again disagree on this. Anarchy Online have one of the best universe I ever saw. Deep and rich story, with a little touch of humour sometimes. The combats are really fun too as you have to fight mobs with different strategies since they’re all not the same. But then again you love or hate MMOs, you can’t be in between.
THat reminds of something I saw on GN quite a while ago: “When you develop a MMO you got three choices: Free, fun, good looking. Pick two.” I dare anyone to find one that has the three.
I found one it’s called Allods. There’s a cash shop but you don’t need to buy anything from it if you don’t want to.
Also, new wallpaper:
I’m pretty sure it’ll lack the “Fun” part after a while.
I’ll probably will get flamed for it, but I found maplestory fun. Been playing it for 6 years now.
Yeah, MMO’s do seem pretty marmite-y.
I agree Soup, some MMOs are fun for some, others are fun for others and none are fun for the rest.
Ever since playing the WoW trial, it put me off fantasy-based MMOs for a loooooooooooooooooooong time.
I far prefer multiplayer racing games(inb4notMMOorthreadtopic) and EVE to Wow-type games that have lackluster gameplay and story and your actions mean nothing in the game world.
I agree, all he seems to do is go around looking for Soup…
I seem to be going around looking for soup too in this post for some reason :fffuuu:
I am pretty good.
Oh, hello topic! I’m not purposfully derailing the discussion, I actually wanted to post this awesome wallpaper;

EDIT: I just realised my dock at the top is making an escape from the screen
