Possible unintentional bypass?

After failing twice to get across the giant pistons (the last jump seems a little far, although I got it on a third try), I found that by stacking boxes, it is quite easy to bypass starting the generator. I have attached two pictures, the first showing the pistons in case I didn’t explain the location well enough, the second showing how I bypassed the pistons.

You can do the same thing in HL1 so why not?

Really? I didn’t know of any way to bypass it in HL1. And, unless I’m mistaken, I don’t think you can jump on top of boxes in HL1.

You could do it there. This bypass is exactly like it was in original HL and then in HL:S port.

All you have to do for the jump is a sprint crouch jump, I will admit it’s a little strange performing certain maneuvers with HL2’s jump compared to the original HL1 jump

I always failed this in HL1, the only level I ever used noclip on. I ended up using a barrel Companion Cube stye. Did the same for the elevator in blast pit that drops you into the waste…
