Isn’t it always? I think I’ve been doing it wrong…
dat vegetation :jizz:
Is that some dynamic lighting I see there?
It damned better be!
EDIT:
According to the Portal 2 Hub, yes it is.
wait, how the hell can you see dynamic lighting in a static image
The shadows are a lot more accurate than BSP shadows perhaps?
wat. how does that make it dynamic? Am I woefully incorrect in thinking that dynamic lighting is lighting that moves in real-time, not just very accurate static lighting? i m confuse.
[EDIT: Oh, wait a minute, do you mean that it’s the same stuff that is cast by your flashlight in ep2? Because if so, that’s awesome.]
I’ve found from experience that dynamic lighting (the flashlight in EP2) is a lot more accurate shadow-wise than BSP lighting.
Well, I was hoping that it was dynamic lighting, because I haven’t seen a source game screenshot of that quality yet.
Yes, by dynamic lighting, I mean lighting rendered in real time, not when the map is compiled.
I have a feeling that it’s just a screenshot that underwent some post-production. Valve seems to like doing that.
I HAVE MAGIC EYES. :hmph:
But seriously, it says so in writing.
Hinting at a large upgrade to the renderer, the shadows are also far more accurate than BSP shadows in the screenshots.
The last Source game is from 2007
Valve has updated the Engine to 2010, of course it uses better graphics and new effects
its 100% in-game
cough Left 4 Dead cough Left 4 Dead 2 cough
Not sure if serious. No one that stupid.
He could be one of those people who believe anything that moves away from the orange box holy trinity doesn’t exist. There have been people like that.
Admittedly it is time for the Source Engine to get some serious lighting upgrades.
I didn’t mention L4D and L4D2, because they are Multiplayergames and they need lower hardware to be played. The Source engine didn’t get update that much, to make such a difference like Episode 1 to Episode 2
Hope you know what I mean
@acristoff: I think I just misunderstood Teh_Casino, sry
Ehm… L4D2 requires better hardware than any other source game right now. My previous computer could run any source game at maximum settings with ease, but in L4D2 (especially Hard Rain) it choked often, so I had to run that one on mid-high settings.
hmpf, ok ok :meh:
my bad
lol… ANYWAYS… Did gameinformer get updated yet? Sometime people have the link before its even shown up in the HUB.
Yes its updated, but there isn’t anything new relating to portal 2. Its only an interview with the developers about how they go their jobs and how they make games.
