It was already mentioned in the GameInformer
Portal 2 is gonna have his own story, no crossing
After Portal 2 is released, I am sure, that there will be something about Episode 3… and… who knows… maybe its gonna be a Half Life 3 (or 4)

or they decide to have some game based on the 7 hour war… where you get to get your butt whooped but put up enough of a fight to draw the attention of the gman who puts you in stasis… And Valve, hoping this will distract rabid fans while they work out what the hell happens to Gordon Freeman.
Half-Life 3 wouldn’t make sense from Valve, because the story arc from HL2 hasn’t yet concluded from their little expansion of it. Unless they intend to pull a Halo2 on us -.-
That is not true at all. The magazine made no mention of HL. The website:
https://gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2010/03/10/opening-the-portal-exploring-portal-s-creation-and-its-ties-to-half-life-2.aspx
states that they chose to connect the games out of necessity. Do you honestly think that EP3 is all of a sudden not going to mention Aperture Science anymore, especially considering the game will more than likely take place on an Aperture boat?
I think he means that Gordon won’t get a portal gun or that DOG and GLaDOS gets in an epic fight for control over the last bakery on the planet.
I didn’t talk about Episode 3. Of course Aperture Science will be mentioned in the final Episode, but I was talking about Portal 2, and its not gonna mention something about the Half Life Series anymore (I know they both play in the same universe)
I would think they would release Episode 3 both individually and in a E1, E2, and E3 pack labeled as Half Life 3.
Then, a long while after maybe release a little something about Half Life 4?
I would bet my orange box that the next Portal version will have a connection with ep 3 totally, and my biggest expectation is seing the borealis with more detail, dude am I impatient!
Good for you
OK just PM me your steam username and password if they don’t mention the Borealis in portal 2.
Portal 2 is supposed to take place numerous centuries after all the events of Portal 1, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and all of it’s episodes. I doubt there will be any Alyx or Gordon or anything, but it asks the question: what happened? We know that you’re still on earth, so it hasn’t been blown up or anything, and it is completely abandoned, or at least the Aperture Science complex is. Nonetheless, I’m sure it will hold many subtle, yet mundane clues to the Half-Life storyline, such as the Combine and any other events that will take place.
I speculate that if the game has some connection to Borealis and Episode 3 then Chell will help Gordon and Alyx in the Borealis and then G-man will give him a speech and put him to stasis. That would make Chell one of the “heroes” (Gordon and Adrian Shepard) that the G-man has shown his presence.
Won’t happen
Portal 2 will have no references or connection to the Half-Life universe, other than taking place in it. To avoid possible conflictions (confliction totally is a word, screw you firefox), Valve has placed Portal 2 THREE HUNDRED years in the future. I don’t know why people are holding onto this idea. At most, Glados might mention “all that shit” that happened “way back when”.
And I honestly doubt they’ll mention the Borealis in Portal 2. It really wouldn’t serve any story purpose, considering it’s GONE from Aperture labs. Again, I forsee a few glancing mentions that Half-Life-ers might get, but nothing telling. We’re sure as hell not going to SEE the Borealis in Portal 2, for the same reason as above: IT’S NOT AT APERTURE LABS ANYMORE.
I don’t know why so many people are jizzing about the idea of there being Half-Life connections out the ass, I’d be more happy with more development of Aperture’s place in the universe, and I can’t wait to say hullo to GLaDOS once more.
Valve’s making it a stand alone feature-length game, I hope they don’t rely on inter-game connections* to develop the story, that would be unfair to people who haven’t played Half-Life.
*but again, I wouldn’t kill anybody if there were, I’d be happy. I sure as hell mind if there weren’t connections, it’s going to be great no matter what.
Same reason people keep ejaculating all over Shephard - Sheer stupidity.
What if it turns out Adrian Shepard is portal.
omg no wai shophord is portal?!?!!!11 omg cant waittttt best gaem evar :retard:
I’m glad no one has suggested that Portal 2 will involve time travel. The users on the steam forums are going nuts over the idea.
That’s because we here are all smart enough to know that portals have nothing to do with time.
You’re not being sarcastic, are you? My point was, you can’t emulate Time Travel in a video game unless you actually invent it. Even if you did, you’d have to have one built into your computer, and then you’d be hard-pressed to actually put it to good use; unless you really know what you’re doing, your computer would explode. Or melt. Or crash; a BSOD from the universe would be awesome.
