Portal 2 Delayed...again

I don’t know… somethings telling me Valve is delaying it more because it DOES suck shit. :expressionless:

Holy fuck. How the hell can you believe that? Didn you even watch the motherfucking awesome gameplay??!?!

Valve’s press releases always seems unprofessional, and yet thats what make them amusing and always interesting to ensure constant notice.

I wonder if Valve should be in the toys industry?

You couldn’t have really not expected this to happen. I’m sure the final product will be well worth the wait.

 1. Black Mesa is not dead, who the hell wants to show their players the ENTIRE game before release, they want it to be a surprise. 2. Don’t be a pissed hypocrite over Portal 2’s delayed launch. You guys always seem to rejoice when the game is released and praise VALVe’s name but when they delay it a meager 2 months you curse their name. This reminds me an awful lot of the Bible.

I read the title and I laughed so hard.

Not sad at all, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNEW THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN.

 1. I never said it was. I said there’s a possibility it will be dead at the end of the year. Ramminator even said this in a post. I don’t feel like finding it, find it yourself.
 2. I never cursed Valve. I love them, and always will. Notice I said “fuck” not “fuck Valve”. I’m unhappy about the wait, but I don’t blame them.

It’s funny, the steam page of Portal 2 still indicates it’ll be release in February

That’s what I said 2 Pages ago. And it’s wrong. The steam page has been updated now.

Ironically, it was delayed to the time around when Gears 3 was supposed to come out.

This is valve man. They’re probably spending those two months to take out some incredible badass feature just so we can sulk when they start talking about “In the beta, we planned to have insert fucking incredible gameplay feature here But couldn’t do it, because we didn’t have two extra months, so we took two extra months to remove the feature”

story of hl2 :fffuuu:

Bingo.

I see you’re coming from the “Alpha Protocol” school of thought. Not all delayed games are good, that’s true, but all Valve’s delayed games have been consistently excellent.

I assume you’re referring to the amount of cut content from the HL2 leaks? As much as people may fantasise about what HL2 “might have been”, I think you’ll find that most of the features that were cut were cut for good reason, rather than Valve limiting themselves due to time constraints. The hydra, for instance, was cut due to the fact that it was boring to fight, despite being cool to look at. The story elements too were all cut for good reason, and I’m very confident that HL2 is much better than its previous beta iterations.

Not to mention that most of the missing story was taken out and put into later episodes, just so they could do it more justice.

jesus christ guys get on your knees for gabe some more
half life 2 would have probably been better with some stuff left in. taking longer does not always equal better. it doesn’t matter how long they spend on it, portal 2 could still suck or it could be great. two months isn’t going to make a gigantic difference and you’ll probably forget about them in a month or two anyway.

the fun part it, i fully expect then to delay the game for at least 2 hours at the launch due to some unforseen bug that will prevent it from playing normally

oh noes 2 hours how horrible

No, not it isn’t. If you didn’t get the point of his post, then you missed the joke. Entirely.

Fancy Pants, you’ve said a lot, so I’ll break it down:

His penis is long and satisfying. Much like the delay in his games.

You don’t know that, and I mentioned some specific examples of where the opposite would be true. Playing the beta and salivating over some things that you think would be awesome doesn’t mean they would be to play. After listening to some of the developer commentary for Episode 2, I realised the sheer quantity of crap they get rid of which, whilst sounding and looking cool, really isn’t fun to play.

In fact, I’ll shift the onus onto you. Show me one feature in the beta that would have been better to leave in rather than remove (that wasn’t later included in the Episodes).

Yep. But not with Valve. Name a single one of their games which has been delayed and has come out worse for it?

That’s true, though the former is highly unlikely. The chance of Portal 2 sucking after Portal was so thoroughly enjoyable are slim, since all they would have to do is release one that is exactly the same as the original for it to be awesome. And from the looks of the gameplay videos, they are much better.

Who? Valve? Seems somewhat unlikely since we’re all on this forum and God knows I do little else with my time but press the refresh button on Kotaku, but thanks for the unqualified glimpse into my psyche regardless.

“Name a single one of their games which has been delayed and has come out worse for it?”

how can you possibly know that either way?

Ees not beeg surprise.

tl;dr only read the end cause i dont care
i meant you’ll forget about the two months difference. it’s not really significant.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
