Portal 2 ARG Speculation Stuffs

GLaDOS is eatnig all of the potatoes: https://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/

Active Test Subjects NINE

???

And “Active Test Subjects: Nine”

EDIT: ninja’d

we have 7 hours and 5 minutes earlier release. This will be awesome tomorrow. Just when I wake up, Portal 2 will be released.

I think once the potatoes hit 0, P2 will be released. Just a guess.

Same here

380600 potatos 21:56 GMT+2
11.7 potatos per second
Potatos are all eaten in 9 hours -> 6:56 GMT+2

So you’re telling me that hundreds of loyal fans spent $35 and countless hours to unlock this game, only to have it release a few measly hours before the actual release date?
Sorry Valve, I’m not with you on this one. I think this was rigged from the beginning, and I would feel insulted if I spent the time to participate in the ARG.

EDIT: Proof from page source:

var g_currentPotatoConsumptionRate = 11.6771584699;
var elapsedSeconds = Math.round( new Date().getTime() ) - g_currentPotatoCountTimestamp * 1000;
var consumedPotatoes = ( elapsedSeconds / 1000 ) * g_currentPotatoConsumptionRate;
var remaining = Math.round( g_currentPotatoCount - consumedPotatoes );

Notice the consumption rate. Probably calculated to give an exact time when Valve wanted the potatoes to run out (and presumably the game to release).

I bought this game for PC for the very reason of the ARG and because portal is awesome and I beat the first one twice. If valve can’t release the game today or even tonight I would feel this whole ARG thing is a waste of my time and I will be pretty pizzed off and I would never care about anymore ARG’s from valve… EVEN HALF-LIFE. This whole thing has had me hyped up for 4 days and i’ve spent much of my time looking at https://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/

I told all my friends it was gonna be released early for PC and I was gonna play it as soon as it came out. If its released a few hours before real release while I’m in school till 3:00 PM then this whole thing has made me do somtin I never felt… Hate Valve :frowning:

Holy shit.

Lol ya I played it on my brothers steam account then made my own and I wanted to get all the achievements+transmissions back :slight_smile:

I think it’s not Valve’s fault, they just over-estimated the community.

It is possible. the truth is no one has ever done such thing before.

He was being sarcastic, beating it twice probably takes 2 hours

I beat Portal 43 times today.

56 times here.

If Portal 2 isn’t out early enough tonight for me to play it I’ll be really pissed. And I’m already pretty pissed that it wasn’t out by the time I got home.

They’ve dangled this reward in our faces and made us put so much work into it only to find that we’re not going to get really any kind of reward in the end.

Frankly I wasn’t dumb enough to spend countless hours trying to do the ARG, so I couldn’t be happier- all those people worked hard and now I get to play the game a little bit earlier.

:slight_smile:

Eh I personally didn’t spend that much time. I just think it’s a huge middle finger to give use this incredibly difficult task and a possibly great reward, and then have the task take so long you hardly even get the reward.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
