Bought a canon T3i DSLR used for 400. Came with an extra battery too, quite the steal. Also bought a 75 dollar extension tube set for more macro.
So far the results have been disappointing (mostly due to user error I suspect), however I’m hoping they’ll improve as I familiarize myself with the camera.

Ha sorry for the high res, in the past that’s just been par for the course in this thread. I’ve got an 18-55 MM lens that came with the camera. Two of those shots were taken with a 65 mm extension tube attached.

In other news I reduced the images to 1920* to try and reduce the bandwith rape on this page;
I think all of these were; 35mm Prime, ISO280, 1/4 shutter and F2.8, tripod, no flash. Car parks are actually great for lighting, as long as you get the exposure right, there’s never any deep shadows really.

I sure love my 50mm; but sometimes I feel I should have gone for the 35mm (using a DX camera, so I have to stand quite a distance away from a subject to get it in frame entirely).
Did you try some shots with an even slower shutter speed, giving the moving people a more dramatic blur to contrast with the cars standing still?

Siggs: How did you get such bright pictures for night time? Was there just a lot of light where you were?
He’s using a prime lens with a low aperture (f/2.8 ) and a low shutter speed.
The aperture is the size of the hole that allows light to focus on the image plane. The lower the aperture, the bigger the hole, the more light can come through and thus the more light will be visible on the final photo.
The slow shutter speed (with tripod) allows for a longer light exposure, also resulting in more light on the final photo, at the cost of sharpness when the subject moves.

I would have mate, I do love a good long exposure. I have a black ND filter too. But that night I was trying to rush around and see a lot, that and I didn’t have my remote shutter; My tripod is a bit cheap so even at 1/4 I was having a few blurred shots because of me pressing the shutter button 
Ah, I’ve tried that with my shitty digital camera before but I just got a very grainy picture. I guess I need a better camera.

I took roughly 100 photos that day, but these were just the ones that popped out for me

Why? There’s already smartphones with those build in. The next logical step would be that. Though I don’t believe it will sell well, except for maybe hipsters.

You can throw all the high quality glass in the world at it, but at the end of the day it’s still a sensor the size of a micro simcard, and that will dictate the quality more than any lens will. The Experia Z1 has a 20mp camera, lets just leave it at that shall we?
