Phones phones phoooones

So ye. My Samsung F490 broke down… Again… For the third time. And since the problem is the battery, and Samsung doesn’t produce these batteries anymore, I’m screwed.

So I’m looking for a new phone, and since I don’t want to repeat my mistakes from the past, I’m turning to the opinions and experiences of other people. This Samsung cost a lot, was advertised as Samsung’s answer to the iPhone, but in the end it was slow, didn’t respond well, had a horrible screen quality, was illogical to use, and was very limited in anything it did (or didn’t do).

So what I’m looking for, is a phone that:

  • Has touchscreen (with responsive touch, not lagging behind a second)
  • Has proper vibration, so I can actually feel when my phone’s ringing (unlike the Samsung which didn’t vibrate at all when the sound was turned on)
  • Is flat/small (this Samsung is about 4,3" in height, 2,1" in width and 0,4" in depth, which is kinda perfect tbh)
  • Has a decent camera (I never thought a camera was that useful, but after using a phone with the worst possible quality I’ve ever seen, it became obvious that having a camera on the go is quite handy)
  • Costs less than €200 (preferably between the €100 and €150, though)
  • (Having a decent internet browser/connection is a plus, but I can live without that, since I have an iPod Touch

Anyone know of phones that fit these “requirements”?

My mother owns a Nokia 5230 - it fits most of your requirements.
The OS can be a bit slow sometimes, but one rarely notices that.

Get an Android phone. I have the HTC Droid Eris on Verizon and it has treated me especially well.

get a phone that calls and texts

I’m using my brother’s old phone now… It can text and call, and that’s about all it does. It feels horrible to text or navigate. So no.

Anyway, Android vs Windows Mobile? Which wins?

Android is a modern smartphone OS with exciting pace of progress. Windows Mobile is old smartphone software that will no longer be updated now that Microsoft is replacing it with Windows Phone 7.

EDIT: Whichever OS you choose though, get a phone made by HTC. They make really nice looking and feeling hardware and software.

The thing with HTC is that they only have one with Android (also the cheapest), and that’s the Tattoo (which is still €259 over here :frowning: )

My phones only break when I throw them. The last one I broke was so old I can’t even find any pictures on google :awesome:

This Samsung just shuts itself off ever 2 minutes. It’s a battery problem, and Samsung told me they don’t have any spare parts for it anymore :frowning:

My mother just got the Samsung Rogue not too long ago. From what I’ve seen and used of it, it’s fairly good.

I dunno if it’s been released in Europe, though.

Did you even google for the battery?

I did, and I cba with that shit. I’m not going to buy something from a random website when the company that made the phones hasn’t been producing the batteries for it for over 10 months (that was when my phone broke down the second time).

Ahh okay, thought it may have been some help

Nokia 3200

Can I have your samsung? I’ve got an unused nokia battery and I’m 99.9% sure that if I wire it up correctly it will work perfectly.

Also HTC makes lots of android phones, at least 10 models, your phone provider just probably sucks.

I dont wanna sound like an apple fan boy fag, but i do like my iPhone.

DROID

Thing with the iPhone is that by the end of June, the iPhone 4G should be here, so getting a 3GS right now for the same money would be a waste. Other thing is that I already have an iPod Touch, I do not want to pay another €300 just so I could have the same iPod Touch (with half the memory) that can call and text.

And yes HTC does appear to have a few Android-based phones, too bad they all go for €400+.

Just get a regular ass phone. Everybody has the Voyager 2/ENV Touch these days.

The touch screen on the enV Touch is a piece of shit.
