5 pages back, I’ve been asked if I’m American, and if so, to which “wing” I belong.
No, I’m not American. I was born, raised, and live in Central Europe, in two originally connected countries (first in Czechia, now in Slovakia).
Since I’ve used a bit of harsh language originally, I apologize and would like to provide calmer explanation or reasoning for what I’ve said. I also understand that I’ve confused two words, “dandy” and “pimp”. I wanted to point at “dandies”, people trying to appear noble or high-class without having what it takes to be noble. Sorry for all this mistake of mine caused.
But back to the explanation of my world-opinion…
In 1989, our country, the Czechoslovakia, overthrew the communist regime during the so called Velvet revolution (Velvet because there were no shots fired or people killed during it). Overwhelmed by the suddenly gained freedom, we THOUGHT that now we will all live happily ever after, in a cooperative, beneficial co-existence. We were terribly dissapointed when “those who knew where the starting line of the privatization race is” quickly divided among themselves all the riches of the country, often tunneling the easily gained industries and bringing them to bankrupcy. Within 5 years, Czechia’s “family silver” was either stolen or in the hands of multi-billionnaires, and nobody was ever punished for this. So while some had enormous wealth and used it to manipulate the politics, laws and regulations to further benefit them, the huge majority of population was left with very little or nothing, and with laws and regulations that hindered or totally blocked any chances of improving the situation.
The country also split into Czechia and Slovakia (in 1993), now both members of European Union (and Slovakia also having the euro currency), and the stealing of country riches continues till today. People are currently badly dissapointed from politics and there’s a “Bad mood” in both of our countries; the communists of pre-1989 era are slowly returning to power without the intelligence being able to stop that (last two prime ministers of Czechia are both pre-1989 Communist party members; the Slovak prime minister was a true Communist believer before 1989 too)
We also have a problem with one minority in both countries – the Gypsies (or “Romas”, as some of them want to be called). This formerly travelling nation/tribe was forced to settle down in the 50s and 60s during a somewhat violent communist initiative called “taking away the wheels” (the Communists basically relocated gypsies to the underdeveloped regions of the Czechoslovakia, and then took the wheels of their travelling road wagons away, thus forcing them to stay put).
During the 60s, 70s and 80s, the communist regime wanted to show to the “Evil western capitalists” that communism is indeed the best solution, and one of the tricks to do that was to have “100% employment rate”. Basically everyone HAD to work. The regime found for everyone a job position, of course at the cost of having 5 people do the work 3 could have done as well. So, the effect on Gypsies was that they had to get up every morning and go to some place, where the foreman would say to others “OK, guys, we have to do [this] and [that], there’s 12 of us, but don’t count on the two gypsies to help us, just do what has to be done and don’t make any problems”. It was possible to work like this, because the work required could be done in 10 people easily. But Gypsies learnt that they don’t actually have to work and still get money.
The regime also gave them city flats for free, and right in the centers of cities. Not having to pay for those flats / appartments, gypsies didn’t value them much, and tend to sell most of the pre-placed equipment on black market, then asking for another appartment, which was granted to them. This also lead to their current tendency to “out-commodate” (as in accomodate OUT) any social flats they receive as social help, which basically means that they receive a fully equipped flat and they turn it into a holo-flat quickly, even ripping out of wall sockets any metallic pipes or heaters, which can be sold under price to scrap collectors and junkyards.
People in Czechia and Slovakia hate Gypsies and blame them for the bad state of state finance, but the real culprits are not Gypsies. Never in the history had Gypsies any sort of participation on the government; the communist laws, the communist “taking away the wheels”, the communist decision to give them appartments for free… none of that was done by gypsies or under the threat of gypsy demonstrations. It was all done by white, non-gypsy people, who wanted to control people, who wanted to brag by having full-employment, etc.
I’m telling you all this, because that’s similar to what happened in Africa. Non-Africans came to Africa, grabbed the riches, gave Africans under-paid jobs in diamond mines or on coconut plantations or whatever, and even made behind-the-curtain deals with their tribe leaders to get them more workers or to quell any protests.
“We” export democracy by actually breaking the local economies through subsidies and price dumping, behind-the-curtain negotiations, overthrowing local leaders, then we exploit whatever is exploitable, and when the country is on its knees, we sometimes make a huge humanitarian gesture by allowing the people to “take control”, when it’s already too late for them to have a chance of having some benefit from their own land.
Just like Czechia and Slovakia NOW give Gypsies “chance to show what’s in them” (after we’ve basically turned them into lazy fat under-educated slum-dwellers), and then say “See? See? They can’t do anything! They are lesser people! We knew it!” …
…the same is happening with the whole 3rd world – after US, UK, France, Spain and others destroyed the local culture, tradition, hierarchies, castes, “lines of kings” or whatever, thus throwing them into complete chaos, these countries stepped back and are now saying “See? See? They can’t do shit! Look how badly they are doing in South Africa! Look how totally helpless they are in Central Africa! We have to go back and help them!”
It’s no wonder that there is a bloody conflict in Africa where different clans or tribes are trying to seize control of as much land as possible, mainly around the diamond mines and other natural riches. That’s the only thing they remember now that can bring them some wealth. They’ve already forgotten what they had 50 or 100 years ago, and all they know now is that there’s a Diamond Exchange in Amsterdam which wants diamonds, because some non-African ladies like to cover themselves in diamond trinkets. Because of every bloody diamond earring, a child or woman or man dies in Africa because of 16 hours a day of digging in dirt, with no fresh and clean water and of malnutrition.
And it doesn’t really matter if that non-African lady is the wife of Barack Obama or a lowly supermarket cash-register operator which earns 20.000 a year – they all want diamonds.
We’ve screwed the world over and are now trying to play Messiahs to it by sending humanitarian aid or peace-keepers to regions, which would be totally fine if we didn’t screw them before. And we quell the voices that say that perhaps our way of humanitarian help is not the best one.
Why send tons of grain, when we could instead send them seeds so they can grow the grain themselves? Why send packaged water when we could instead construct wells for them?
