Opera 10 Adblock Plus/NoScript widgets...

I’m a big Firefox fan but I recently decided to check out Opera 10 and while I like it a lot (especially Speed Dial) I’m disappointed by all the useless and crappy widgets. Firefox Addons has some crap too, but it also has some great addons like Adblock Plus with EasyList and NoScript.

My questions is simply if anyone knows about similar widgets for Opera? Without those I would merely consider it as a secondary browser.

Very few people develop for Opera because everyone uses it as a secondary browser. There are very few people who use it exclusively. There are ways to block ads, all it takes is a google search.

Im using Opera too, really like it, wish others did too.

I used to use it, but after a while it got cripplingly slow, maybe I had too many bookmarks or something silly. It just got slow.

I moved to chrome, god that was fast in comparison… and now you can lock the pages that appear when you startup (used to be simply your most recent ones), so now it pretty much has speeddial as well. I only miss mouse gestures, they were neat.
.

You rang?

I just wish they had some good widgets, all there is are the gazillion clock/calendar/calculator widgets :frowning:

Opera’s my first choise browser (for a good 4 or 5 years), and lately it has become a lot more stable (especially with google sites). Though, I do also use Firefox, IE 8.0 and Chrome for development purposes.

For ad blocking you mainly have to follow some instructions like the ones here. And you can additionally block ads and annoying signature gifs ^_^, by right clicking and chosing block content (just be careful in this mode with the wildcards in the blocked urls).

I hardly ever bothered with the widgets because all the functionality I need (or most of it anyway) is already embedded in the browser and you can configure it one way or the other.

Oooh, thx

EDIT: wtf, I need to go to the beta to use it? hmm
.

Totally worth it for the extensions bro. I use it and I haven’t run into any bugs. Updating is super easy too.

cool, I’ll give it a whirl then
.

I use Opera as my primary browser, as well. I do admit, however, that the equivalent of firefox plugins is terrible. Luckily, I like vanilla ice cream :3

Hurrah, gestures! Tbh, I only use back, forwards, and reload. But it’s nice to have them
.

Agreed. The only reason to not have the beta is if you have a crippling fear of the word “beta”. No noticeable bugs, and you get all the cool stuff that chrome has been needing like layouts and extensions.
