On A Rail Uncut - Re-Adding Cut Areas/Scenes (Expansion Project)

Keep your time. We will always waiting for you patiently.

Great. Regarding the skybox, if I get what you’re saying (and please, correct me if I’m wrong), after you’re done making it 1:1 scale, you’re going to shrink it to 1/16th of its current size (roughly 600 units) that way the engine can display it properly? Just out of curiosity what’re the dimensions at the moment?

Beyond that, the view should be awesome when it’s done. Good luck with your dissertation and finals. I’ve got my finals in about a weeks time.

Somewhat correct.

I create the initial “transitional area” at 1:1 scale, and then shrink it down.

In this instance, I consider the “transitional area,” to be the part of the skybox which visually connects to the actual main mapping area. I can’t think of a better way to explain this. Just think of it as the start of the skybox. I map it in full scale so the displacements actually properly connect, and so there are no visual seams between the map area and the 3D skybox

Once that’s done, it gets shrunk down to 1/16th scale, and then I map out the rest of the skybox at the 1/16th scale. It’s a good system. Mapping at 1/16th is understandably a LOT easier when you’re dealing with huge unwieldy chunks of landscape.

It’s coming along well, but don’t expect anything soon. The view should be great though.

Good luck with your finals too! Shit’s hell over here, I dunno what kinda time you’re having of it, but I doubt it’s much better.

Good luck with the end of uni. I am really excited to do some more testing on the maps this summer and see them through to release.

I know how you feel with college overwhelming you (I was kicked out in my 2[sup]nd[/sup] year, after the New York Spring 2011 semester due to emotional trauma-my aunt died that January-leaving me overwhelmed, alongside the schoolwork, to the point of being unable to concentrate).

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

It’s not that bad for me. I’ve had my share of “oh shit I need to get this done now” moments through the semester, but I usually do tests by memory usually after reviewing most of the information I accumulated through notes, I usually do well. It’s a good developed skill to have, it’s made my life a hell of a lot easier with college.

That said, I hope you get great grades, you’ve sure as hell have earned it with running this project on the side, top that off with work… cringe good luck.

Good luck Text, we’re all rooting for ya. And don’t worry, we’ll be here when you come back from the real life :stuck_out_tongue:

Best of luck with your exams Text…

We’re all rooting for you, buddy.

Good Luck, with your exams, TEXT!

Good Luck!

May The Force Be With You!

Break a leg, junior!

Good luck with your exams, Text! We’ll be right here when you’re done with university work.

OP

If you want a copy of the version of C2A2A I was working on in 2007/2008, let me know.
I was working on a new tunnel design template at the time as well, but i’m not sure where that went…

I could probably find a copy of the map that had this area in it, in the least:

EDIT: Found the vmf, but it’s corrupted. Basically, it won’t load past 5% loading chunks, which suggests that the VMF file itself is corrupted. So, I did a little notepad hacking and there doesn’t seem to be anything immediately out of the ordinary… Anyway, if you want it, I can either keep trying to fix it or just give it to you verbatim.

Who are you?

By the looks of it, he’s Ryan Maclean.

I’M BACK!!!

During my ban, I worked on my tan, lost a few pounds and caught up on my beauty sleep. I’m refreshed and recharged and ready to take up the cause again in helping improve BMS.

Thanks to all for your concerns and kind words of support. It really means a lot to me.

Text, Chickenprotector and .RK, best of luck with your school work. Hope you all knock your assignments and final exams out of the park.

Zombie Dadster is relentlessly roaming BMS again. Watch out, and stay away from dark corners! Damn it, I almost got my bloodied hands around the neck of k3nny1550 (see post #1261, on this page)! I’ll get you next time, for sure!!!

AaaawwwwwOOOoooooowwww! (besides zombie, I’ve got a little bit of werewolf in me, as well). Time to go sharpen my fingernails and fangs!

Welcome back, Dadster.

It’s been a week already? Dang. Well, welcome back Dadster!

@Text, I apologise for my silence, I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately.

I do have a suggestion or two, but I’m mostly withholding them until I see what direction you’re taking with the surface.

Welcome back. This zombie now catches more clippings in where no one cold see easily. Beware.
