Tough question, that one. If I remember correctly, the Spanish Grey Union (or “Unión Española de los Grises”) were known to travel and convert lots of people to their cause. That symbol represents the light that they wanted to spread through the masses, but in the most subtle of ways.
I could be wrong though, it’s been a long time since I took my classes on European secret societies. Please correct me if I’m wrong, Rot or Winged.

It is from a time after 1903… The Kodak real photo postcard was invented around that time.

Pretty much the same that’s happening here.
Someone asked for help with identifying a license plate, and lots of people helped him, pointing out the country from where it was from, but he thought they were just repeating it to troll him, when they were just trying to help him.
Almost the same thing that you are doing with your photo (which is from Spain, BTW).
