Oh look, NASA made a game.

Why are people surprised that a moon mission simulator is boring?

I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of NASA technicians were just dicking around and ended up making this game.

yeah no, that didn’t happen

That rocket is simply the BEST rocket ever build. There should be more games which simulate this thing.

Actually, the BM-modellers should exchange the rocket for launching the satellite to a Saturn V :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s probably really accurate to what the moon looks like and stuff, but no one cares because the moon is boring. Unless you’re there for real then I’m sure it’d be a blast, but we play games to get out of reality (in my opinion)

We play games to get out of reality or experience a better aspect of it. The moon is not a good spectator sport.

It’s a game from outer space.

True. And for this NASA-“game” I would say, this is more like a simulation with the purpose of educating the player. I like those programs; even if they seem boring it’s quite some fun to accomplish their goals and handle their complexity (if there is some).

However, a real GAME situated on the moon would be interesting as well. Like shooting through a DOOMed moon station and fighting evil demons with a leak in your space suite or something like that… But I wouldn’t expect NASA to deliver it :jizz:

Maybe they use this as a means to tell everyone we must populate the moon and they are searching for young pupils by checking the statistics everyday? Too farfetched?

I’d say it’s just an elaborate survey to see who is the most willing to go to an extremely isolated and boring place voluntarily.

Involuntary*

Moon conscriptions? :fffuuu:

You should know. You’re an aspiring dictator. And yes.

I bet you this simulator is correlated with the progress being made on Iron Sky.

Ah yes, ID’s look on outer space > NASA’s.

Although John Carmack does run an Euro-space corporation so he probably does know a crap load about it.

This game is neat if you’re a dork/geek and have always found space and space exploration interesting. Otherwise it’s a simple novelty you get bored with after a half an hour or so.

I’m planning to BLOW UP the moon to get rid of those meddling tides, not colonise it.

Maybe you’ll change plans in the future, because you realise you can make it hollow and make a battle station out of it that can fly by putting motors in the craters, as well as lasers in the smaller ones. As well as housing well over 1000000 star ships that can enter and exit through some openings, made in medium size craters. Duh.

Once you’ve done that it means the core is gone, which means there’s no gravitation on the moon so you don’t have those meddling tides anymore. 2 birds in one hit.

And you won’t have to worry about seasons anymore!
