Office Complex Elevator

How about he just says he’ll rather wait for the Military to come save them (they don’t know the truth at this point) and sit down against the wall.

“You go ahead Gordon. I’ll make sure these guys stay safe.”

Do they constantly stand in your way, like the Rebels in HL2?

I’m pretty sure you can’t get back into that hallway once you make the jump. One of the guards should yell “We got some trouble! I’ll stay here and handle it! Maybe find another way out!

Somewhere along the line the light could break and darken the area as the guard sprints to handle the situation downstairs. OH, that would be creepy to play that zombie moan chorus that you hear in On A Rail. Some shit’s about to go down!

How about putting an electric swich somewhere upstairs that would allow the player to use the elevator to go back and get the scientists/guards.

The way I see it, they’re going to get left behind at some point and the Office Complex ending seems to make the most sense. Otherwise they’ll remain awkwardly behind at some obstacle or get shot down by the HECU in WGH. It would be best for their fate to remain a mystery, hinting that they probably found another way out.

GMan came back and opened the door down the hall.

Gman - “Isss Freeman gone?”
Barney - “Uhhh, yeah?”
Gman - “Ahhh good… uhm, I mean, mosssst unfortunate.”
Scientist - “Sooo, can we get out that way?”
Gman - “Hmmm? Oh, sssure.”

Ha, I was thinking the same thing ^

The only reason I suggested it it is that it would be cool. It would make more sense if the guard just says that you should go ahead and doesn’t even say “we could still climb.”, but it wouldn’t be as cool as some of the ideas in this thread, this is still all just talk and none of these ideas will even be considered. Oh and I think that the scentist dangling sloud be replaced with a guard or removed, it’s just highly unlikely that a scientist could make it all the way up to the elavator.

what I suggested but with a B form:
‘‘oh Gordon it seems is a big fall why you don’t get up there and make the elevator go down for us/me (about how many guard/scientists you have)?’’ then instead of zombies a big group of zombies AND vortigaunts/aka alien slaves come how more many ppl you have following you more alien come making it an impossible victory.
Then the guard says: ‘‘Oh man go up and get that elevator down we will handle them until you get it; if ya see the scientist who got up before tell him to don’t approach to the door (he doesn’t know that scientist is the 1 wich is going to fall)’’ when you get on the ladder the lower part of it gets broken and falls making you can’t return down there, when you enter in the elevator you hear all your group/your only guard dying. END OF THE CHAPTER and the guards died with honour.

Sorry but that seems even more far fetched

And it’d be funny if you don’t climb the ladder for a while, then the security guard turns to you AND HIS FACE TURNS RED AND HIS VOICE IS DEEPENED 5x ITS NORMAL LEVEL AND YELLS “GET. THE. FUCK. OUT”

not really when the npcs do all the work, they would be very out-numbered and lost and would be an heroic-like ending for a guard (and for the scientists… well let’s just say it was worst get killed by a tentacle of the blast pit than this and they ussually are the firsts getting killed)

another way to make it easier is search a form to only let you get a scientist and a guard or only a guard in the elevator scene like putting something in their way they can’t pass like a lot of boxes or something unbreakable since npcs can’t jump on props and when you get on the elevator zone you found the guard and you don’t have any chance to make the other guards/scientists come to your position making the BIG wave of zombies I said in my first suggestion here possible.

:bulb: Make the jump and then the elevator door on that floor shuts!

/cues the guard to bang on doors

Or keep the same situation as in HL1 and change the dialogue. Though for all you know, the guard may not be able to get to the shaft in BM. Hell, maybe the shaft isn’t even there and you get to WGH via some other dangerous climb.

Let just wait and see what the BM devs came up with and leave it at that, Im sure the devs are quite capable at handling this situation logically. lol

Remember that most of your ideas require either additional animating or recordind the voice actors. It’s too late for that…

Since when? The mod is done when it’s done, they’ve said that repeatedly for the whole time it’s been being made. They’ve said that they’d probably reject 99% or even all of the ideas in the forums, mostly because they’re not thought through or they’ve come up with a better idea, but it has been said that if there’s an excellent idea then they’d try and fit it in somehow.

Even with great ideas tho… it all has to do with cost vs. profit. If the cost of getting it done outweighs the benefit or ‘wow’ factor, it isnt going to get done. Then again, if the ‘wow’ factor isn’t there, it can’t really be considered a great idea huh? :s hrug:

That’s the thing with great ideas - they’re often expensive. By the way, is this the elevator shaft in question?
