Oculus Rift

Hallo,
the new source sdk makes hl2 compatible to the oculus rift.
Is it possible to compile this beautifully mod with the sdk 2013 - to make it compatible to the rift ?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!!

thank you very much

best regards - FR3D

Can u compile it for us?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, converting the code base will take A LOT of work. It just isn’t feasible with the team and free time they have. They have lives too, you know.

Oh - i understand sorry - it was just a question …

I love this mod too

This guy is ongoing with porting his cinematic mod to sdk 2013 - and as i understood the adding of the oculus rift + hydra support is/was no problem there ?

playing HL2 with the oculus rift is better than everything i’ve seen so far - it’s like you are really there …
a oculus rift ready black mesa would have been another milestone in gaming …

sorry for my stupid question

best regards FR3D

To each their own, I guess. As I said, they have different code bases. Porting the code isn’t as simple as you’d think; there’d be different functions inside of the code in some cases once they port over making old ones obsolete and they need to fix a shit load of bugs that would present themselves after the port to even have a workable client.

And I know. I’m not sure if you can use the Rift with the game itself, but I THINK you can run a client while the software runs in the background. It’s just that you won’t have the full feature list available. But again, I’m not entirely sure.

FYI it was a legitimate question, the community would’ve torn you a new one if it was a stupid one. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi people (and congrats to the team for this great remake)
The Hydra “mod” for HL² VR is out now (well, not technically a mod but a new game using the SDK 2013) and I must say it’s mind-blowing, best game experience so far for some old gamers (including me).
Now I understand that Black Mesa in native VR is a lot of work (and not a funny work), I just hope the team will find one day the motivation (and the time !)
Let’s wait for the riftmania  (sometime in 2014 for the consumer version)

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
