NOSTALGIA ALERT: The Purist Manifesto

For those who were members of the BM community back in 2006, prepare for an overdose in nostalgia. If you were not around during those dark times, don’t take the following document seriously. At any rate, I give you lovely folks the legendary Purist Manifesto. Yes, I kept it around so that one day, we could all look back on it and laugh, and laugh… and laugh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, blast from the past right there. It does seem familiar, I just can’t remember if I read it way back then. It’s kind of a shame that we lost the co-op mode.

I would have liked to see that make it into the game, but HL/BM has always been, and always will be, a single player driven experience. That’s how it was designed originally, that’s how it should be.

Just out of curiosity, Black Op, what’s your reaction to the most recent media and some of the changes to the game that have been revealed since you wrote this most glorious manifesto?

To be totally honest, my reputation for being The Purist is a bit of a Flanderization. If it was possible to see all the posts I’ve ever made since late 2004 or so, my posting record would have indicated that I actually was open to various changes here and there. And in all honesty… I don’t really know much about potential changes at all ever since I left the BM community. However, from what media I’ve seen… I shouldn’t expect to be disappointed.

Excellent, now I can continue to tl;dr

:ninja:

I really haven’t the time to read that again, but I remember the general gist from when it first was posted. Good shit.

I like the feeling the forums have now that this announcement has been made. It’s like all members, past and present, are convening for one more event.

Hey, even I remember that shit back from when the forums were outliving their grey days and that weird guy with medkit avatar was still not banned.

Years later gotta love it if only for the memory.

Oh Black Op you cheeky fellow, god i miss those days of endless forum arguing lol

Oh wow, this brings back some vague memories of the old forum days, where everything Black Op posted sounded like something from 1984.

I sent RTanger a message on Xbox Live. It’s only a matter of time before he sees it and joins us.

See if you can find anything funny on here:

This

Oh lordy

inb4 purity

thanks for the nostalgia :3

for even more nostalgia someone should post more BM comics :stuck_out_tongue:

I wasn’t here when that was posted, but I remember when I first came here, I was quite

an extreme purist. I’d say these forums, as retarded as they can be, have changed me

for the better.

I have the entire run of the Leak-Free comic on my hard drive. Man, I’ll have to upload LM’s STEAM miniseries sometime soon. That’s the LF comic where I went on a Purism rampage.

Ahh, haha. Good 'ol Leak-Free comics.

Good to see you again, Black Op.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
