As part of the C&C4 Beta since it was still a private Beta, I can safely say that the current iteration is MUCH more fun than it was before.
Kinda says something about the version I started off with.
Either way, I’m gonna get it at least for the cutscenes. If anything, C&C is pretty well-known for its story, and in that case Youtube doesn’t really cut it. It’ll be pretty awesome to see the story conclude in-context (even with the meh gameplay).
In fact, Sam Bass even promised us that if we don’t end up liking his story, we would be allowed to flame his email.
By the way, the new C&C motion comic is showing to be promising.
They also made capturing buildings a chore by implementing a population cap system replacing the "engineer goes inside and takes over the entire building ".
It doesn’t feel like CnC anymore…
I own and love all the C&C games and have been a player and a fan since the beginning. With the exception of Generals… I never liked that one for some reason.
But I gotta say I’m extremely disappointed with C&C4… C&C3 took things in a different direction… removing traditional aspects and adding new ones… which was okay for the most part, but still made a great game and addition to the series. But I’ve played the C&C4 beta and feel like the series has been ruined.
EA said they are trying to appeal to the new gen of gamers with C&C4… but I still don’t see why that requires them to completely remake the structure of the series. It’s completely possible to enhance the gameplay of C&C and add new content without making the enormous changes they have.
Honestly, I’m not going to purchase this game. I will probably just rip off the copy my brother pre-ordered so I can see the cutscenes and finish the saga.
