New Fan Trailer Community Project (unofficial)

So here’s the thing. If you visit ModDB, Steam greenlight and the main page of this very website what do you see? The old, outdated 2009 trailer that has almost no resemblance of what the mod is now. It’s just sad really. We all know the devs don’t really have the time to work on it, at least not until Xen is out, and who knows when that will be. So I’m proposing we restart the fan trailer project. Now that the majority of the mod is out, we have access to the resources to make a legitimate trailer, and not just something full of moving screenshots or crazy CG elements. This way (assuming the devs actually accept this) we can update the video and stop leaving people scratching their heads.

So, submit your trailers below!

Does SFM work with BM assets? I was under the impression it didn’t…

I have successfully imported Black Mesa stuff into SFM, as well as many others.

Perfect ;D

This is awesome  Waiting for more!

ah. so f**** nice

Dude that rocks, I could watch a whole movie like that.

Here’s my submission, probably not as good as others will be since I don’t have any video editing software and I didn’t use (and don’t yet know how to use) SFM, but I tried my best

First half is flyby, second is gameplay (It’s probably processing at the time of posting, actual trailer is in 1080p)

Black Mesa - Fan Trailer

That was awesome.

That’s pretty good :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t like the spinning the camera to fade to the next section though. Feels unoriginal because of the exact same thing in the old trailer.

Hahaha, Chancy you’re a genius.

That’s actually the main reason I did it, because I felt that linked it better with the old trailer, though I suppose that I should have done something else to make it more unique. Also I did it because it’s easier to make a transition like that when all you have to work with is Windows Movie Maker

Hello I have an idea… for a trailer… hopefully someone can do it.

“1998: Half-Life 1 is released and gets over 25 Game of the Year Rewards”

shows Half-Life 1 Standard Definition gameplay

“And now in 2012… Black Mesa is released”

shows Black Mesa gameplay

“Featuring redesigned maps, weapons, and models.”

shows some more Black Mesa gameplay without the HUD

"Reimmerse yourself in the Black Mesa Research Facility*

Run

shows Gordon Freeman running from HECU soldiers

Think

shows Freeman outsmarting HECU soldiers and killing them and a few aliens

Live

shows Freeman recharging health

Shoot

shows Gordon Freeman gibbing all of the enemies

BLACK MESA

Blood splatter across the logo with a crowbar raised

I hope someone takes this idea into consideration and makes a trailer of this…

and another idea I have for a trailer… a trailer that uses the X-Files theme… :3

Those videos were both really good. That spin transition is an excellent idea, I may just use that myself. I think demos would be the best way to show off the mod because it’s actually game footage. SFM stuff is like enhanced CGI.

I have a bigger problem with editing clips together though, what did you use Bloodshot?

I don’t think that’s what they meant with “live”.

A good free video editing software is Videopad, but it still doesn’t measure up to professional video editing software like Adobe After Effects or Sony Vegas.

I wish James Benson could do something with Black Mesa.

WOW that is nice!
I just thought of an idea. With source film maker and black mesa i think a halflife movie might be possible! I need to learn how to use the film maker.

I changed you original text a bit obviously.

I LOVED the idea.
But I think the “Live” part has to be something like, a real pro player, playing the most absurd part on hard (whatever that would be) with something like 13 on health and managing to survive. Then (just only) after surviving this hole pack of action this pro player would charge up his life (somewhere near).

I actually would love that. I believe it to be posible too.

Great video Chancy! btw are you a fan of Abe’s Oddysee? I could see alot of Abe’s persona shining through Gordon Freeman :stuck_out_tongue:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
